Should I get UE 500 or Beats Tours or Ibeats?

I am looking to upgrade from my sennheiser cx 500 titanium which cost 150$ and for the price, suck big time. (my opinion) I can get the UE 500, beats tour, and ibeats from a friend for 50$ each, but he will only give me 1. So I want to know which one is the best. I have heard really bad reviews...

Good In Ears for Drummers with an NRR of at Least 25dB?

I'm looking for in ear headphones for playing along with music when I drum. They need a noise reduction rating of at least 25dB. The main priority is something that blocks out enough sound to keep the volume relatively low. Of course something that sounds halfway decent would be nice as...

Crunchy/crumpling sound when putting on earbud.

Whenever I push my UE 500 and my cx500 into my ear, it makes this crumpling or crunchy sound that sounds like I am crumpling my speaker diaphragm. Am I damaging my earbuds or is this normal. I cannot find a way to prevent this, even by twisting it I to my ear, it still makes noise.

UE 500 Vs UE 600 Vs Metrofi 220

I have been using UE 200s for a while now and I want an upgrade under 100$. I really like the look of the silver Metrofi and UE 500. I can afford the UE 600s but if it is not too much better than the other two than I would prefer to save my money and get what's cheaper. I mainly want to know...

    Ultimate Ears 700

Am i right that these are better for comfort than the 500 and 600s plus should have better sound?   Would these be a good choice of the three for someone wanting clear, detailed sound with good highs and mids and DOES NOT want booming peaky (30-70hz) bass?     Thnx

    Future Sonic Atrio X Impressions

In my never ending search for the perfect gym earphone I've tried just about every <125 dollar headphone imaginable...including the MTPC @ 220.  My criteria is pretty simple:  over the ear, chin slider, comfortable, fairly isolated and it needs to be V or U shaped with a nice bass presence for...

Comparison Request: Monster Beats Tour by Dr. Dre vs A-jays Four vs Ultimate Ears 500vi/400vi

I'm looking for a good earphone with mic for my iphone 4 and since I like the designs of the tangled-free flat cables, I've short listed these 3 earphones: Monster Beats Tour by Dr. Dre, A-jays Four, and Ultimate Ears 500vi/400vi. Has anyone compared these 3 earphones before? I've seen one...

    Torn between what to buy

I'm looking to purchase a decent set of IEM's, around the 100 dollar price range, maybe 115 tops. I cant decide what to buy between the SHURE SE215, ULTIMATE EARS 500,V-MODA Vibes, and the klipsch S4. These are the only ones that I have looked at so far, and I cant decide what to buy. I am a big...

Tip Replacement Options for UE (Colored?)

Hey all,   So here's the deal: I have a pair of Ultimate Ears (500vi), and I've been looking around and researching, searching the forum, etc for information about 3rd party foam tips (Comply, Shure olives, etc).  From what I've read, the Comply's are really comfortable but wear out very...

Reviews on Ultimate Ears 500vi and 600vi?

I can't find many reviews on the 500vi and 600vi.  Is anyone using either of these?  I'm guessing the 600vi is supposed to have better audio because of the top-fire armature?  And presumably the 500vi doesn't stick out from your ears as much and might have a better cord?

    looking for mid-tier earphones

Hi everyone, i'm new to head-fi. my friend is looking for earphones around $150-200, and she prefers those with strong bass. I'm guessing she wants earphones with warm and exciting sounds, so maybe dynamic speakers would be more suitable than BA??  Are monster turbines and the MTPG good...

Shure 535's lacking bass... better suggestion?

Hello,   I just received the Shure 535's today.  It sounds great in terms of clarity, and midrange voice comes thru very easily.  I'm quite dissappointed in the warmth, and the bass response though.  I've tried all the sleeves, and found the ones that fits best, but still it doesn't sound to...

    Help improvising a strain relief

As the title indicates, I want to improvise a strain relief for my UE 500 IEMs... They have a right-angle connector, and a flat cable. Unfortunately, it transitions directly from hard plastic soft cabling, so I want to find a way to keep it from bending, as well as a way to keep it from being...

Bass and clarity trade-offs between Ultimate Ears 500 and Ultimate Ears 600?

I shortlisted UE500 and UE600 for me. I like both Rap (Eminem) and classical rock(Led Zepp, Nirvana). Now after reading tons of reviews, I am unable to decide between these two. I would like clear guitar riffs which is clearly better in UE600 but I am worried to miss beats in Rap songs. So I...
