Not harsh.  I just wanted it to be factual.  I would agree that the Cello amps would make many systems bright, but the Krell's are very different.  In the tuning sessions, we worked hard to make the Z1R's a exceptional musical experience.

I'm mastering a live jazz album right now and the producer and engineer are fighting over the Z1R's because they feel the depth is more impressive than my monitoring system.  The engineer uses the 1A's and I have the 1R's, 1A's and Z7's here as well.  They listened to them all and have been on the Z1R's for the past 3 hours.  I'm the only one listening on speakers right now.

Nice to have Mark Wilder here. If memory serves, he authored/mastered a lot of the early Sony SACD's, so we have a great set of ears on this new Sony headphone. I'm rather excited

I was going to get a set of Ether Flows and now I am not sure... Been a fun year for new release but it makes it so hard to decide on what to purchase! First world problems right? :p

Is there any news regarding Sony IEMs from IFA? XBA-Z5 (or A3) successor would be very interesting.

Does not look like it.

Been browsing the news on IFA, and Sony has launched their Signature Series comprised by these headphones, gold plated flagship Walkman DAP, more sffordable alluminium Walkman DAP and flagship headphone amp.

I guess Sony purposely omitted the Signature Series IEM this round so that, consumer does not need to chose between these headphones and their Signature Series IEM (just my 2 cents worth, since i faced that situation between the xba-z5 and mdr-x7, but at the end, bought both of them within a 6 months period :p)

Cheers

True. Very true.
The R10 is pretty legendary (to me), but there is just so much competition nowadays. However it looks the most refined out of all high-end headphones, or rather the most beautiful.

Glad to see some love on the R10. I love mine and I hope I will be able to add the Z1R to accompany the R10 soon.  BTW, Koji Nageno was one of the engineer behind the original R10.  The Z1R gotta be pretty darn good if he is responsible for it.
