TRINITY - PHANTOM Series - New thread + WORLDS FIRST PUSH PULL HYBRID IEM!*

I have to say, the amount of goodwill this company has pissed away is something their competitors would do terrible things for. They've lost me as a potential customer; I haven't bought anything from them (the Phantom Sabres in question were from another HF-er) and it really doesn't look like I'm going to start any time soon. I think I am, as the saying goes, outtie 5000.

Definitely the Master will be superior

I had the fortune of hearing the Master pre-prod version over the Christmas/NY period and I think it's safe to say the Master can compete in the same bracket as the A4 for my personal preferences. I didn't think they they were miles better, but I certainly didn't think they were miles worse either, which is pretty high praise considering the deserved acclaim the A4 is getting at the moment. Not heard the Magaosi to comment, and of course Bob may have tweaked a few things between the pre-prod model (which in his own words had been taken apart, tweaked and put back together so many times by the time it got to me it was on its last legs) so please take it all with a pinch of salt - hopefully people will know soon enough once the shipments start hitting the deck!

Edit: removed autocorrect errors to make sure the comment reads properly.

Thanks for this ^^^ It was what I was looking for to determine if I wanted to keep waiting or fold.

There were users that didn't like a4 which you won't find in a4 thread because when you don't like iem you stop going on thread. Good value for money though

At least my noble iem should arrive on Monday will compare it to my pm4 with flare microdriver.

I am mainly looking for something that plays in that price bracket. If the sound signature isn't a good fit for me I'll put it up for sale

True - there are always people who will dislike something that almost everyone else likes just because it doesn't work for their own personal preferences, which is exactly as it should be.

There were plenty of people who didn't like Van Gogh's paintings while he was alive, for instance - while I'm not suggesting Bobtrinity is making audio masterpieces that will only be appreciated when he's long gone [or that the stress of getting all this gear shipped will lead to him chopping an ear off and posting it somewhere ], it is useful to remember everyone will have their own perspective on events and items and whether said things are good bad or just plain indifferent - that's what makes the world (and forums like this) go round.

Now, back to patiently waiting for my Hunters to arrive - hoping they turn up before I have to send off my touring Fiio X5iii at the end of next week as I suspect they would be a very good match...

Review of that pairing would be extremely appreciated as I am looking for new DAP and Fiio X5iii is one of the top contenders. Would you test it also with balanced connection or just SE?

It depends on whether the Hunter ships with a balanced cable as one of the pair of 8-wire cables we are getting, as I only have a balanced MMCX cable (the Fidue A83 2.5mm/3.5mm replacement cable) so can test it with my other MMCX gear like the Vega, but don't know if I'll get to do that with the Hunter yet as I haven't purchased a balanced 2-pin cable as the Hunter will be the only IEM I currently own (or will own) with a standard 2-pin connector.

To be fair, I don't recall @Bobtrinity ever mentioning anywhere that balanced cables would come as standard on the Hunter, only on the new ranges with the Y-split connectors, so this may be more a case of hopeful optimism than something that will actually happen - I guess I'll find out soon enough either way!

I don't care about all the complaints and frustrations posted in this thread, and I am confident we will all receive our earphones, and then we all will be very happy with the end product. However, I can't resist agreeing with some of the points raised in this forum. The foremost major complaint is the lack of communication, and I felt that starting a few weeks ago.

One distinction I would make between regular customers and us, is we are also mini investors in a company who had the novel mission of collaborating with it's end consumers for building products, rather than using real investors who may care more about profit than the final product. However, a company ought to keep it's investors updated. I think we all know that we have invested our money knowing there will be delays and mishaps, but what is absolutely necessary is to be on the same page as the investors and backers. I remember a few weeks back, we were all thinking the products will be shipped in two days, but there were no shipping notifications. Then there were some shoutouts in this thread (in which I also took some part) and finally Bob stated that there has been some shipping delays and the deadlines are now pushed to 24/25th of this month. I can't stop thinking that, had Bob informed about it in a timely manner, the whole confusion could have been avoided. Yes, there would still be frustrations and nasty comments, but not mass confusion.

Now also, the same scenario is repeating itself. Bob seemed to have told a few days back, he would check with the shippers and post an update the next day, but then nothing happened. I think if Bob comes forth with information that something bad happened and we will all be getting iems on 24th of April instead of 24th of March, I think there will be less negative feeling than if he keeps silent.

I also can't stop feeling there is a big difference between the early days of this thread when there was daily healthy exchange of ideas and updates when Bob would post where exactly they are in terms of development and people would give their feedback. Thats the sort of model environment that is suited for this kind of ventures in my opinion. I know there were glitches with PM4 and the Master was developed and offered at significant discount. That gesture was positively taken by most less a few. I understand Bob was upset seeing a few negative comments (well this is internet!) and in his mind the honeymoon period that he was enjoying was over. But one thing should always be remembered, Bob communicating with us and giving us updates is not dependent on his mood or how upset he is. It is a necessity, because we are close to being investors, and honestly we are less toxic than any real investor who would rip people apart in board meetings and fire employees or shut down entire projects.

We are not bloodthirsty investors. We are just a bunch of die hard fans of quality audio products. All our frustrations and emotions are because we believe in the quality of Trinity's products. Otherwise we wouldn't have cared. Keeping us updated and informed and sharing with us not just the glory, but also the setbacks (without the need to ask or shout) would go a long way in preserving the healthy environment that this thread started with.

I believe that the Hunter will not come with balanced cable. I emailed Jake earlier whether it would be possible to substitute one of the 8wire Litz cables with balanced 4wire one and the answer was no. So I assume we will get 2 unbalanced cables.

No reason to be worried, it's the 25 and everything has shipped.  On a side note; I have said it and will say it again. Head-Fi is not the proper channel to communicate this if there are delays. Emails should be sent to customers, all the more so when Bob said many customers of the 5000 items that had been shipped are not even Head-Fi members.

No before people jump and say they were busy packing and shipping. True, but one email to the full distribution list doesn't take more than 10 mins.

That's what I thought, but as there want confirmation either way on the website, was just indulging in some passing "wishlist" thinking. If the Hunter cable looks as good in real life as it does on Instagram, then I'll be pretty happyv with two of those anyway!

How do you know everything has shipped? Because there has not been any confirmation of that. Bob promised Kickstarter supporters another update email once all of the KS rewards have shipped, and that hasn't happened yet. And since its 5 minutes 9pm in the UK at the moment, I seriously doubt it will happen today. Maybe Monday. Maybe another month from now. Who knows...
