Interesting. I never thought that VE orders would be faster from their website, but just learned how Aliexpress ships order and it seems weird and lengthy.

Sometimes things go smooth and quickly shipped on Aliexpress but when things go wrong contacting their customer service is quite useless as they do not even properly understand english.
I still buy at Aliexpress but my recent issues with them makes me look always somewhere else before choosing them as my buying place.

Surprisingly enough, I came across this thread and the VE Monk Plus peaked my interest. I ordered a bunch of variants from Veclan and hopefully they're going to be great. Spend way too much time at work using earbuds and sitting in conference calls!

I suspect that the new Monks I got are slightly louder or something is off with them on the right channel compared to the left but my ears aren't good enough to be sure. I'm using the link below. I can't tell a difference on the wiring center/twisted test but on the driver matching test when the frequency goes really high right before the end, there's a very brief moment where the audio cuts off slightly before resuming. On the original Monks I have, it stays smooth throughout. Anyways, is there a better way to tell if the ones I have are faulty or is this link good?

Will there be any noticeable difference in sound between Espresso and Coffee? I love how the cable looks on the espresso but I actually need remote for my smartphone and only Coffee offers this option :frowning2:

I am trying to buy a VE Monk Plus 3.5 TRRS (balanced) and I am unable to do so on VE's site. It makes me create an account but then when I do, it tells me to use my ID (I am!) instead of my email (I'm not!) because the site doesn't support email log in.

Then, why I try to go to Ali Express, I can't find an option to purchase them in 3.5 TRRS style! What's going on and how can I get these? Does anyone have one I can buy off them? Is there a way to use a 3.5 TRS into an 3.5 TRRS adapter so I can get the balanced sound? Like this unit? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1048151-REG/rode_sc4_trs_to_trrs_adaptor.html

I have gotten myself a 2.5mm trss espresso monk to pair with my opus #1. It indeed open up abit of the soundstage. But does anyone else notice a significant dip in volume when using the balanced output from the opus? Isit normal?

Alvinlim2010, I don't have experience with your player. The Monk + and any other balanced headphone are louder on my Pono Player vs single ended. Balanced drive quadruples the output powwer and should be louder on any machine that supports it. Is the Opus #1 capable of balanced playback? There are many different connectors and wiring used for balanced drive - no standard. Do you have the proper balanced connectors? On the Pono Player balanced drive must be selected in the menu. Does the Opus require this?

Something appears wrong with your combo while using balanced drive. I would check everything out before playing. Don't want to risk injuring the Opus. Good luck.

I don't notice any dip in volume. Do you have a TRRS to TRS adapter? You can verify your claim by using this adapter with the same Espresso. If you do have such adapter, use it together with your Espresso then plug to SE, set the volume. Then without adjusting the volume, remove the adapter and use BL.

Yes I do have the adaptor. Yet to try the comparison. Will try it out n report back!
