Welcome to head-fi where hypes are most of all just... hypes. For sure the Monk is very very good but HD650 good? For sure not. It has the same sound signature as my Sennheiser HD 439 which could be had from around $70-100 and the 439 is miles better. Though it doesnt cost $5 and it isnt an earbud. I love the Monk for what it is but nothing more. Hell no that Im selling my more expensive stuff because of the Monk.

Which brings me to the next subject: if you like the (original) Monk but would love a more refined and natural sound, have a look at the Sennheiser HD 439. Sometimes it reaches the $50 mark which is  a steal.

So.. I'm not too sure if this question has been asked but are they going to restock the EX Pack for the Monk Plus? I'm super interested but honestly kinda just want the EX pack since I've already got the originals lol

heres a weird thing about these ve monk, which also explains why ve monk sound better with foams removed at back of dinamic. it is that the back of dynamic sounds better than front. i took off the dinamic from the back and just put earbuds same direction plastic to ear and turn earbud back towards the opposite side of ear i am getting probably twice better audio. and with zuperdac they sound even better.

I've been waiting for the EX pack to come back on Ali express too but about 150 Monk sold in 12 hours (!!!)
Only 407 left and at this rate, Monks will be out of stock in the next 3 days. Not sure if there will be more so I pulled the trigger.

I don't know when you ordered yours, but I ordered mine on 4/18.  As of today, 17track shows them being in the USA, but aliexpress still says en route to destination country.  My last order took 10 days, but I'm not sweating it because I get my Monks or I get my money back if they do show.

1st put monk+ then put HD650 over ear, you will get the super sonic effect which you wil never forget :)

Just received my Monk+ with expansion package.
 
I was skeptical about sound because I liked original Monk's sound so much. But definitely Monk+ is definitely a step up. From out of the box the sound is very well defined and precise. Bass is strong, well defined and solid. Mids are really sweet and highs are typical Monk signature, airy and very pleasant. Stronger magnets do display the potential well. I can even feel very strong repulsive force when I put the earpieces close together, compared to original Monk. 
 
I'll reiterate what has been said by many that Monk+ expansion package offers immense VFM. There are so many accessories bundled with this package which lets one tackle around number of fit and isolation choices. IMO offering the expansion package is a very well thought decision as most users I meet these days are scared of fit/isolation issues of an earbud.
 
Thanks a lot Lee for offering budget head-fiers something extraordinary.
