Can someone advise me on how to get better battery life out of the DP-X1? I cant believe that this thing only lasts for 3 plus hours on a change! Thx.

On a (hopefully) more practical note, in addition to the sound advice above, I think I remember people mentioning that the DP-X1 may come with a lot of bloatware installed on it when you first buy it. So check for that and try removing it perhaps, if you haven't done so already?

3+ hours is way unacceptable. Always turn on airplane mode. Put "standalone" button widget on the home screen so whenever you want to turn everything off just touch the button. Try to change track using the up/down track button, minimize screen on time. I easily gets 7-8 hours continuous play

Nobody seemed to have addressed this issue: DP-X1 is heavy enough to break when dropped on its sharp edges on floor. Neither the Onkyo's leather case nor Dignis covers the sharp edges with enough buffer for shock from such falls. Has anybody come across any case, silicone or otherwise, that offers enough protection to DP-X1 from shock caused by a drop from 3 ft or 4? Leather cases can only offer protection from dust, aesthetics aside, after all.

I dropped mine in Dignis from over 4 ft on asphalt. Not a scratch on the DAP. Some dents in the leather that rubbed off

You shouldn't do that.

We should buy from Otter Box if there are any available (?)

It was done in the name of science. :grinning:
Walking the puppy, listening to FLACs, phone ringing, no pockets and not enough hands...

Tough choice, puppy or DP-X1. Do you love your puppy?

DP-X1 is so astinishingly liquid-like when streaming Spotify Extreme Quality. Love it.

Seriously looking forward to seeing the launch of MQA on Tidal minus Tidal issues and the DP-X1 FW update for MQA.

I'm into my Bluetooth phase. Just testing the ATH WS99BT now with the DP-X1. So far, very nice, just like with the Divine from XTZ. For anybody who needs to be wire free for true portability, these two headphones need to be on your list. I'm not sure which one I will keep, maybe both?

I received the DP-X1 from PJ today but forgot to order the leather case which was stupid of me.  I ordered one separately from Ebay as I believe it is a very important to have one.  Right now I am using it with the Sennheiser HD650 unbalanced. No distortion with the volume all the way up to 160.  I have a 2.5mm TRRS to 4 pole XLR adapter coming from Ebay. I could not find one locally on sale so I will have to wait.  The single output is capable of driving the HD650s so I can't wait to hear how the balanced out sounds. I have a Cowon Plenue P1 that I like very much since I liked the laid back sound of BB, but I needed a DAP that has a good interface and capable of running Tidal.  The Cowon P1 has virtually no listening fatigue.   I also have the Ibasso DX100 with the original 9018 ESS chip and I think the Onkyo sounds better but last time I listened to the DX100 was a few weeks ago.  The DX100 has good sound but I cannot stand the interface -  I am thinking about selling it off one of these days since I don't use it much. In comparison to the Oppo HA2 portable dac/amp (uses the same ESS chip),  well it just isn't on the same level as the Onkyo.   I have also listened to the LG V10 with the single ESS chip and although it sounds good, I didn't like the design of the phone to warrant purchasing it, also not on the same level as the Onkyo.  The volume dial is very ergonomic and functional.  All in all, an excellent purchase.

I too am using HD650s se. They sound great as is. I hope you bought a balanced cable because an 3.5 to 2.5 will not work. I have one on the way from @peterek. If you don't care about having the cable sleeved I think he has one to sell right now.
