MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers

Yup.  I was originally leaning toward the open back Ether.  But, the more I read, the more I think hmmm that sounds like what I really would enjoy better.  I can always sell off the audezes and spring for a T1 Beyer or HD800 later if massively huge soundstage and imaging is something I really wanna try.  I gotta shrink down my stack of schiit and cans and my spidey senses are telling me to give these a try.

The phrase which I bolded above really cracked me up.  I think my inner five-year-old is rearing his head at the moment

In all seriousness though guys, it looks like we may very well have a top new contender here now for the title of "Best Closed-Back Headphone In the World for Under $2000."  And that, guys, is exciting, and some real head-fi history-in-the-making

I simply cannot wait for them to finish tweaking the tuning and get a pair of these out to Tyll and others for detailed testing and measurements!

My thoughts/impressions/brief review on the ETHER C headphones that I listened to before, during, and after the SchiitShow (most recent listening session was a couple of days ago) are contained in my Questyle QP1R review, here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/778877/review-questyle-qp1r-with-multiple-headphone-and-iem-pairings.  I hope you enjoy the read.

That graph is amazing. True extension flat to 20 hz, way better above 10 khz. Folks like me who still to 16 khz (at age 50), and as well below 20 hz appreciate it. Also, Goodyfresh, keep in mind (from my experience) ANYTHING closed from Audeze is really bad. Rolled off lows, very disappointing. Overcompensated for low end resonance in closed cans I think.

Not in my experience with the LCD-XC. Definitely no roll off. That said I'm looking very forward to the ETHER C.

With write ups on the ETHER C like that, I just want to preorder a pair, as soon as possible. The maniacal audophile looks upon his sleeping wallet with mindless contempt lol.

Perhaps one of life's grander pastimes is to fill that which is empty and to empty that which is full.   One could choose a poorer passion that the pursuit of musical reproduction and suffer neither more nor less than we do.  The key word being "passion" as opposed to "obsession".  The former being the offspring between affection and appreciation and the latter the person child of OCD and too much of a supposed "good thing".

I am crazy for some of this stuff, I must admit.  In all ways and for always, gentlemen, I wish you the best.

Most of us are pretty damn obsessed with the subject of hi-fi audio if we are active members of this forum.  So yeah, OCD is about right :p

Just quickly want to say that I had the pleasure of trying / listening to these headphones today at London CanJam, all I can say is WOW! I want a pair! I could of listened to these and the matching Ether's all day. Dan you've created two of the best headphones I've heard / tried to date in the Ether and Ether Cs. I'll post up my impressions of these headphones another time as it's getting late here.
