Lotoo PAW 5000: Impressions Thread

Hi there,
I know it's been a long time since you posted this but I have a question to ask you!

I already have the paw 5000 and I saw the N5 at a good price, do you think I'll need both? I saw your comparison on both and you said they were pretty similar so I'm quite confused now haha..

Regards,
Vera

It's been a while since I've heard the N5. From memory, I felt that the N5 was overall a better DAP in terms of sound. It's certainly not a completely different league though. If you have the 5000 already, I dont see why you would need both.

The new i5 looks very nice thought. That may be something worth looking into.

For those tempted to pick up the 5K like I am, Amazon Prime has it at $180 for a couple days now.  I really should just impulse buy this and get it over with.

I LOVE my PAW 5000. You will too! Lotsa extra features beyond even the Gold and many other $200 players:

Bluetooth
High/low output impedance
+/- 20% speed change w/o pitch change for joggers
Digital out
Armband mount doubles as stacker
Actual control wheel that turns not tips
Charge via USB port
Super small and light

But its output power is 1/12 that of the Gold.

It just seems so convenient.  Plus, I'm having some issues with my new toy as I picked up a Hifiman Supermini on the used forum and need to see about getting a couple things sorted out with it.  The output power issue most likely wouldn't be a big problem for me as a lot of what I use in respect to earbud/iem is quite easily driven, and what isn't easily driven the Supermini can handle just fine.  Then again, I have a Shanling M1 coming in... so I am unsure of if I really need another dap currently.  I suppose I should wait for the M1 and see if the price holds if I don't like that one so much.  Then again, it's been at $200 for awhile before the recent drop, so if it goes back, it's not a huge loss.

I was eyeing the PAW 5K for a while at its lower price. However, looking at the Shanling M1, it seems like it just has so many more features and a great form factor that I may get that instead. Still waiting on reviews regarding the M1's sound though.

I'm also looking at the M1, the M1 is surely cheaper than the P5K - but looking at it's portability and USB out for pairing with the Mojo.

Thanks... I did read that earlier but was confused as it seems counterintuitive. So, the high damp setting is best for low impedence headphones?

Thanks again.

Yes.

Can you provide some feedback on the PAW 5000 scroll wheel, is it loose or is it more firm, notched? I returned my N5 because it was so loose the selections jumped all over the place, otherwise it was a good player.
