HD600 + EarMax Pro = crap?

Matt, it just seems that the 600's are not your cup of tea.
No biggie. I have a pair of 580s and they don't work for every style of music.

Since you like the sound that ear buds can give you, have you given consideration to Etys?

This is what I was thinking, maybe consider the Etys after letting the 600s run in for a certain amount of hours.

Maybe you were hypnotized by severe colorations which you actually enjoy.

Hi.

Remedy: Jan Meier sells them for $220 shipped (overseas, no less). Great guy to work with, highly recommended.

I had Etys and I loved their neutral, top-to-bottom extension, their ability to extract insane inner detail, their tight, musical bass and more. The thing that made me send them back is the impracticality (for me) of the sealed-off nature (I need to be able to hear what's going on around me), the microphony of the cord and the queer "hey, there's something deep in my ear" feel.

Needless to say, of all high-end cans i've heard, I was most impressed with the Etys. This is why I wholeheartedly agree with Vertigo-1 when he says the MDR-A44L's are "like vertical, in-ear etys."

Beagle: For me, the previous paragraph's favorable likening of these to Etys says it all. Unless Etys are colored, of course, which I don't believe them to be.
