Yeah, the Pioneer has a patented Bass Exciter in it that vibrates the earphone when there's a lot of sub-bass. It's passive so it doesn't require a battery or anything.

If you want a Pioneer SE-CX8, let me know. I'm still trying to recover money from buying an expensive amp and would sell it to you cheap.

thanks how much?

on the high end the best I've tried is Unique Melody Mentors... couldn't believe they somehow out-preformed my Heir 8as

Added. (Unless someone disputes the claim)
Might want to add the fx 1100's in that 2nd column as well if you are adding the fx850's they have a great thumping powerful bass as well

 done :)

Some IEM may exist in more than 1 category as the 2.5 will probably be in the first 2 like the TH900 appear in 2 categories in over ears.
You may submit your own Top 10 list for consideration you may not include any item you have not heard and you should if asked provide exact hardware and settings.

Pop the Wooduo 2 up on the no eq or amp list. You might also want to generalize the JVC list to that entire series. They all hit hard (and need no amp or eq--they distort quickly) but kinda sound like crap in the mids.

Unfortunately, it's also easier to get fakes than the real thing. The real FX3X is the best of them and the most frequently faked. I've heard most of the range.

It probably doesn't even belong on the Top 10 for pure impact/basshead potential.
Agreed.

One that puzzles me is the Sony 7550, no way they should belong on this list in my mind, maybe it is a fit thing for me, however, praising them so highly might lead people into an expensive mistake...

I know that the aurisonics asg 2.5 should be on the list but what about the fomer, the aurisonics asg2's. They had a huge following when they first came out and I know they may be a little outdated but they did have a very strong bass impact especially mid bass

They cost $230 and hit about the same on an identical track and settings as the xb90ex which are really peculiar and do not hit hard unless set correctly. Strange since they are "XB" series marketed 16mm with 200mW max input.  They will hammer but it's not as easy as it's marketed to be.

The 7550?

I enjoy lachan's vids a lot and don't really watch anyone else. He likes and see's the ma900 exactly as i do so i have an idea of what he likes and can use that to either agree or disagree with him as his general opinions seem fairly consistent. I just saw this vid 2 minutes ago and didn't know about the felt in the 7550 but I also liked the 7550 more than the 1000 for the reason he stated as well....the highs.

(done with video)

The 7550 have a max input of 500mW as well...that's ******* nuts.  The EX1000 are 200 like the xb90ex. That spec really only comes into play when pushing a set with an amp.

I have only played with them but will soon own a set and am fairly sure they will be the hardest hitting IEM found so far. When the xb90ex get warm in my ear from a Cayin C5 on high gain and bass boost on the 7550 did not. Folks can wait until i get them and share exact settings before they invest but they are better than my Sony A2 in stage/presentation and bass.

All the IEM on the impact list need an amp and eq. The 7550 can take a lot of both.  A LOT.

I heard both the 2 and 2.5 before buying the 2.5 and thought the lack or rolled off sub-bass was unacceptable. The bass range is the shortest numerically and having a portion of the 20-35Hz range rising instead of elevated turned me off. The bass tracks i listen to often have multiple hits from 35 to 55 to70 but above 75 the bass is more of a sound than any thing that you feel. That being said it is a list and not my thing alone and the asg 2 are bass beasts. They should perhaps be on the list. Which set to you think they should replace on the impact list?
Honest question. Opinions and input is welcome. This list is still evolving.

Will do.

JVC is a strange beast. They make magic but never when they try. Hardest sets to place may be theirs and a lot of their stuff could fit on the no amp list. Will continue to modify that list
