usb to rca or coaxial

Ok.. So in order to play audio from my android which supports usb audio, what must i do if i want the marantz dac to play it .? What is the cheapest solution you can think of?

If it is going towards buying a reciever supporting aptx or so, i would like to mention that wireless connectivity isnt really required.

You must convert the USB audio to S/PDIF audio. S/PDIF comes in two versions: 1) TOSLINK (optical), or 2) Coax

USB digital audio is NOT S/PDIF digital audio. We've been trying to tell you this for three pages!

You MUST use a converter that accepts USB digital audio and outputs S/PDIF digital audio. If you were using your PC, you could do this with one of the inexpensive converters I posted earlier. But from your phone, you need to use a converter that is externally powered.

Yeah... i am new to this audio stuff.. so had a few confusions.

Can you tell me what this usb to spdif or toslink converter is specifically known as ?
And using that how can i make use of the internal marantz dac ?

Coz if i buy something like the Audinst hud mx2 which has usb input and optical out, Will i end up using the internal marantz dac or the audinst dac ? I suppose its marantz dac as the output is digital... Right ?

You need to convert your cell-phone USB audio to either a coax digital bitstream or toslink optical digital bitstream.  This would be your ideal lossless scenario.  You will have to find a product that specifically works with Android cell phone USB.  I don't think computer USB is completely universally interchangeable with Android cell phone USB.  But let others confirm this.

Plan-B could be the bluetooth wireless converters discussed previously, preferably with a less-lossy audio codec.

Looks like the Creative sound blaster E5 will do what you need.  Actually it will do more than what you need.  But it will convert cell phone USB to toslink optical for your Marantz.

I am certainly sure that the audinst hud mx2 is compatible with android usb audio out. So if i connect the optical out of audinst to marantz, i will end up using the marantz dac.... right ? If it is so, spending on the audinst isnt worth it i guess..!

To use the DAC in your Marantz, you MUST hook to either the HDMI, optical, or coaxial inputs. Those are your only digital input choices. If the device you use has optical or coaxial output and you hook it to one of those inputs, then you are sending a digital signal that the Marantz DAC will decode.

There are USB DACS for less than the Audinst HUD-mx2 which are likely better than in your Marantz receiver. Find an ODAC on ebay. No way the DAC in your receiver is better than that. The ODAC is a better DAC than in many CD players.

If I were you, I would buy a Schiit Modi and hook the Modi to the Marantz Red/White RCA jacks. We know the Modi can be used with Android OTG. I would forget about using the Marantz DAC - IMHO it is not worth the hassle, and quite frankly, I'm not convinced it would be better than the Modi.

Schiit Modi isnt available here in india.
And i am not saying the dac in marantz is better than the modi, Instead i am comparing it to the dac of my android. And thus i feel the dac of marantz is better than the one in my android

ODAC is not a choice here.
I just tried to find one but with no success.

There you go... some better options.

I was making a BIG assumption earlier that the Marantz DAC is better than some of the other options.  There's a good possibility here that its not.

That's why I said look for the ODAC. If that is not available, you might want to research in the Dedicated Source Forum: http://www.head-fi.org/f/7/dedicated-source-components There is likely some good Asian brand, factory direct DAC available through Ebay which would work well.

I'm pretty sure the Marantz wouldn't be better given it's a 2002 AVR model.

This is a usb to spdif converter i found on ebay india.
I am certainly sure that this will work out for me and put the marantz dac to use.
I do not have much more options in dac to consider (actually no dacs below 150 usd or so).
If you guyz can comment on the quality of sound i ll get through this, it would be helpfull.
Thanks and i really appreciate your help.

Its worth a shot I guess, its like what... $8-9?  So long as the device communicates reliably with your phones USB output.  Head-Fi is a community... fellow "tone chasing" enthusiasts, searching for good sound.  The idea of taking one for the team I think would be seen as an admirable undertaking and looked highly upon.  So good Luck!!  with whichever way you chose

Man I am envious... I have an iPhone and would be all over a product like that for use with the Apple Lightning connector. (but thats another topic)

That is like $15.
I guess its worth the price though as every audio component is costlier here (A used Schiit modi is available for 130 usd

).
Anyways If i buy it i will let you know accordingly.
Thanks a lot all of you for giving me appropriate direction
