My x2 just arrive today. Paired it wit kc06. sound is too bright, distort even in low level.

Then the game changer award belong to 75 ohm adapter

Sound:
Low
Immersive, full, warm no bleed in to mids, well place.

Mids
warm full, female vocals are great no peaky or grainy sound at all. this just beat my x1+e12a combo with a huge margin!. its neutral, with lush and very intimate. Details are ok, not Hi-res but obviously its enough for fulfill joyment of the music.

Highs
Smooth, never have silibance at all.

Staging
wide and deep. may be the widest I ever heard in portable souce (Direct HP out).

This is my main rig now, not a dout!!

I dont think the KC06 sounds bad with the x2, however they are so very very sensitive that there is a lot of hiss in the background. One of the biggest downsides with the x2 is that noise.

yes it is not that bad, but bright sounding just not my type at all. I have suffer with bright treble on kc06 for so long.
BTW If you have a problem with hissing. just grab impedance adapter. Hissing problem is completely solved!

Impedance loading a sensitive IEM would cause wild impedance swings and ultimately changes the sound signature.

Well my X2 just failed this past week. It still plays, but I seriously thought I'd blown a speaker in my car (17 years old, I wouldn't be too surprised if a speaker failed). It makes a horrible crackling sound that remains the same at any volume level on any playback device I plug in. I believe this was an early batch, and I had a few other issues at first that others didn't seem to have, but I figured out how to get it to do it's job. A month and a half later and maybe 80 hours play time in, I got this problem. Messaged Pennon. We'll see what they say. :/

Sounds like a grounding issue. Send it back and get one from the new batch like I did. Still waiting for mine though. But its in transit.

Hello there Head-fi-ers!

My first post here.

I've bought this recently and it came with firmware v4. I've succesfully updated this to v5. This wasn't hard, but the directions werent very well suited for the software/language, but it was all done before I knew it.

I must note that it still has minor quircks/bugs. Sometimes when I try to ffwd or skip a song, the MENU button function pops up, or the previous song is started instead of the next.

I dont need a big fancy gui. The ui this player had is simple and sufficient.
The quality is OK-ish. Good for this price, although I hoped it to be better, reading the reviews here.

I tried all my 3 IEM's. (With equalizer on DBB)
- The Bose IE2 wasn't a big success on this device, it made the shortcommings of this device clear. too flat.
- The Balldoor Earbell E100, when plugged in sideways it worked well. But maybe a bit too clear.
- The Fidue a71 was the best fit. Because it amplifies the bass well and makes the high notes sharp too.

Needless to say, the device feels sturdy.

The main button is applied best, cause it cant wiggle , the rest does, but its not annoying.
I really like how cute it looks, I imagine drawing a smiley on the display. This device looks like a character.

And love the oled black levels.

- The Balldoor Earbell E100 neither, because its cheap + cheap = not sufficient enough.

So I just tried the shuffle option. It simply does not remember the previous/next song. A minor thing... if it wasnt for the fact that ffwd a song can be buggy and if so, you cant turn back again.

Does anyone know if the latest firmware supports random play of ALL music files in all folders rather than just a selected folder?

To much noise for the X2 and VSD5 combo.. Had to dig up my clip sport from a drawer. Lucky me i still had it here somewhere :).. Shame about that noise on the X2, you really need some load like the B3 for this dap.
