FWIW, I seriously doubt Sony will be reducing the price of the ZX1 - they're already going to be struggling to justify the gargantuan difference in price between the SRP of the ZX1 and the projected SRP of the ZX2, so reducing the ZX1 would just embarrass themselves even more.

Oh absolutely - Maybe spin it another way around, would be interested in first reviews to see what is actually brought to the table for those that don't want to listen to the weedy output that Sony are renowned for these days from their headphone out...

...As much as I am a massive Sony fan, am sceptical at this point.

Well I think it looks the part. It matches the good looks of the PHA-3 well. I'm not particularly keen on spending $2500 on a AK240 I can tell you that much. The ZX2 might fill that gap between the iPhone 6 and AK240 for some. I guess we will see when the reviews come out.

I've just checked price japan, the site seems over priced, even the ZX1 is listed for 98800 yen, whiles it's officially sold in japan for 71130 yen.
 
Maybe you can ask someone from this forum who lives in japan to get it for you.

I'm kind of disappointed that Sony got rid of the slim design and the aluminium chassis of the ZX1, I think they give the device an elegant touch. The ZX2, on the other hand, looks too bulky for my taste. Its size worries me and it also weighs twice as much as the ZX1. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of a portable audio player?
 
Anyway, I'm looking forwad to hearing from you how the ZX2 will fare in terms of sound quality compared with its predecessor. I think I'll stick with the ZX1, though.

Is that why the price was so high, I didn't realize it was GD, now I know what all that GD and 0000 stuff mean't.

I'm wondering why anyone would splash out an extra 40.000 Yen on this model. But I think people in Asia are a little more obsessed with Gundam than Europeans or Americans.
