Havi b3 pro 1 thread 2.0

So after spending the day deliberating between the two, I decided to put the Havis up for sale so that someone who will get more use than me will give them the love and attention they deserve. I have so many headphones right now and I don't want them to go to waste. Check out the link in my sig if interested. I did record all my impressions of the basics so that I can help people compare them to other things in the future. Thanks a lot to Baycode, peter123, and all the others who let me know about these awesome IEMs. I highly recommend them, in spite of them not being just right for me.

Funny story: I let my GF listen to them tonight and she said the Havi was her choice over the GR07. Her reasoning? The Havi are better separated and THE GR07 IS TOO BASSY. I asked if she wanted to use them, but she didn't like the idea of using an amp and said she'll just keep her Ostrys. If I ever needed proof that everyone hears differently that was it.

Happy to have had your impressions on these around here! Also, I'm totally with you on keeping the earphone count down so they don't just end up sitting around. But with so many good ones, it just so hard!!!! Being broke helps though; it's worked for me, maybe give that a go

diff people.diff tastes.

diff options!

+1. You an I have been very happily in agreement about this and I love it!

My Havi B3 pro 1 IEMs arrived up 2 days ago.

First thing......get the ear tips wrong on these and they are just not going to perform for you, get them totally right and these are terrific IEMS.

Thankfully no balance issues with mine (tested with pink noise as soon as I got them out of the packaging).

None of the inlcluded Ear Tips  fitted satsifactorily with the closest being the black foam tips (with tthe circular cut outs in the side). All the silicon tips were no use to me at all.

I use Westone True Fit non silicon tips on my Ety ER-4s (slightly larger than Havi Black foams) and have adpated a pair of these for use with the Havis by removing stems and replacing with shrunk heat shrink to the right diamater for Havis.......terrific results.

Tight low frequency , a wider soundstage/depth than Er-4s, overall clarity and detailed high frequency.

One more thing, I fitted a red heat shrunk ring at the bass of the right ear piece stem so it is much easier to get the right way round.

Good purchase

Tested with DX-50 running DX50_NEW_DOC`S_FAVORITE_FIRMWARE

Yeah, very tip dependent and sometimes has to be a slight compromise. Like the stock red cores narrow the soundstage a bit, but they're the most comfortable and offer the best seal for me.

Do the Sennheiser Double Flanges provide good isolation? I've heard they're considered to be the best sounding (clear + better soundstage), and this mixed with great isolation would be perfect.

Really depends on your ears. They didn't seal well at all for me so bad isolation. I stuck with stock red cores; they sealed the best for me.

Hi guys! I'm newbie here. After read version 1.0 thread, I decided to join the caravan! I just ordered NX1 and pure silver interconnect from Onest11 to use with Havi and my Clip+.

Quick question : Is it necessary to use an amp if I use Havi with Studio 3rd Anniversary since that sweet machinery already had an amp built-in?

Same. Main reason for me to go amped was because of how much power it sucked from my iPod. I was happy with the SQ, but it definitely drains more battery.

Yup. And if the amp has a nice bass boost and you want a bit more kick, then that ain't so bad either :)

just to update you with my unit folks. got mine about 2 weeks ago. and I can swear that I'm hearing a physical driver (not mental) break-in as I'm constantly comparing them with my clearer and more honest (especially in the mids department) RE-400. the first few days with the Havi B3 Pro-1 it was definitely less clear sounding compared to how it sounds now. the bass now is more controlled. I can assure there has been a change in the bass because my main gripe about the B3 Pro-1 is the somewhat over pronounced bass. The mids are now more forward and clearer. Before, clarity level between RE-400 and B3 is very far from each other. Now it's not that much of a difference. Still can't beat the mids transparency of RE400 though but I'm really glad that the B3 opened up its sound to be more clear and more controlled. driver break-in really does wonders.

I thought the same regarding the burn in for my gr07.
But after i stopped using the unit,,i picked it up after a month or so and the sibilance was back.

Only proof of brain burn in vs physical one is comparing a new unit with burned in one

This is different because I'm comparing it with another IEM (RE-400) and not just from the memory of how it sounded out of the box. And, I already have confimed that a physical driver break-in can result to a change in sound. I have a Sennheiser MX 980 and OMX 980, both have the same drivers, cables, materials. The only difference is that the OMX have earhooks. And more importantly, both sounded exactly the same when they're new. But I happen to use the MX 980 all the time and after several months of heavy usage, viola... The MX 980 is now less congested, more impactful but also more controlled bass and clearer highs compared to the almost unused OMX 980. And no, it's not mental because the difference is that obvious that you don't even have to A/B them again to hear their difference in sound. So yeah, physical driver break-in may or may not happen to a driver but it does on some. And I think the B3 Pro-1 is one of the not so many that breaks in for some periods of time of continuous usage.

I have to say there's something fishy about the way the last thread was shut down, and many of the long-time people leaving so suddenly. The shut-down was done rashly, and without due consideration to the principles of open forums. People disagree, and sometimes abuse each other online. No reason to shut it down, unless there's something we don't know about and are not being told. It's made me look less kindly on Head-Fi as a whole.

No idea man.But tolerance power of people is just apalling,u should never bother about the thing u don't like.

What can mods do when u start flagging every post u don't like?
