The general sound is flat-ish with a slightly boosted mid-bass, though quite power hungry, and does require an amp to perform at its fullest ability

Flat with a slightly lifted mid bass you say? So do you think they can be compared to the dgs 100 in terms of sound sig?

DGS100 has much more than slightly lifted mid bass.

We'll know more in about a week when Brooko and my unit arrives. I sure hope not as much mid-bass as DSG100. Surely not Fidue's style.

I'm hearing good things about A71 via PM msgs though from reliable sources. I hear they're quite tip dependent.

Got mine in today. Sound is impressive. Mid-bassy. Great vocals. Happy with the open box sound but will give them some burn.

still burning mine in: but impressive LIVE sound, some treble harshness still there after 40 hrs so
burn in continues and continues...mid gassy is right per danny obi's impression, but vocals ar
glorious, hearing old sources in new ways, excited to hear them after 100 hrs burn in or more..
this may sound nuts, but they remind me of my Shure 1540s live concert sound, lots of dynamic range
and fast..
