I hope this thread can be one where members just come together and discuss how useful head fi has been in their audiophe journey, since the day they have become members.

Well, let us begin! :)

For me, when i first entered the world of audio and was looking for reviews, this site, head fi, kept on popping up. i soon got intrigued by the idea of joining a huge community of audiophiles and i decided to join. ever since my first post where many helpful members chipped in to help, i have become more and more active on head fi, participating in many product threads and some disucssion thread. i have not looked back since.

There was a point a several years ago when I wondered if I was going mad...as it seems that the sound signature that sounded realistic to me was unanimously agreed upon as innacurate...but then I meet a few members, hidden in the shadows, that indicated to me that I may not be so insane.  These days its more of a fifty fifty split in opinion.

Its funny how cause and effect works.  Head Fi is more than that to me though...the beats bashing caught my attention and I did my research on Dr. Dre himself.

I bumped into this track:

This track spoke to me and pulled my mind from the depths of hell at a very precarious stage in my life.  I might have 'Journeyed with me into the mind of a maniac', but no...I'm here, stronger than ever before.

I am a huge fan of Dr. Dre, and I found him through Head Fi.

I started a bit like you TripBit, was looking for reviews on lower end headphones and daps. Actually my days started at anythingbutipod some 8 years ago and have evolved to being and member here. I was a lurker for a while, but now that my audio heard collection and experience has grown a lot these past couple years, I've decided to start posting more! Here I am now :)

Just saw this thread in my mail (since I added OP to my follow list). I thought I'd chip in with a story of my own.

I started my headphone journey back in 2013 when I got a pair of Beats Pros for my birthday. Before I actually settled on that, though, I lurked in Head-Fi trying to find something else. Eventually I did end up with a pair of Pros instead of a pair of Yamaha Pro 500s (there was a [fake] Pro for cheap, so that's what I got). With that aside, eventually I made an account on Head-Fi, and started soaking up the knowledge like a sponge. I was pretty silent on the forums back then; hardly any reviews.

Then came Christmas of that same year, with the Xiaomi Pistons arriving at my door. You guys probably know the rest.

It's been about two years already, and boy, it's been one awesome ride. The road's pretty unclear to me right now, but hey, it's the journey that matters most.

I'm really glad to be a part of this growing community. Lots of really awesome people around here.

I'm pretty much on the same boat as you except I'm still in the "entering" phase.

Without Head-Fi, I wouldn't have known so much about audio. My knowledge is still far from absolute, but I have already picked up so much from my years on this great forum.

Truth be told, without Head-Fi, I would be very lost. This is a great community, filled with like-minded people with the same obsession passion. Where else could I actually go where people understand that it is normal to spend hundreds or even thousands on headphones/earphones?

Yeah. Most of my friends think it's crazy to buy any earphone that's more than $50. That's SGD lol.

Some have never even tried a earphone outside of the stock buds. These are the ones who will give you *that look* when they find out how much you've just spent on your umpteenth IEM/headphone.

But here, we all understand.

Most useful aspect being a 'member' here for me: It's easier for me to filter out all the uninformed gobbledegook of all audio mystics. 99 % (outside the sound science forum) is just annoying to a guy who understands at least the basics of electroacoustics.
