The following is a screen capture from a Weibo message dated 17:15 of 22 August 2014:

http://www.weibo.com/1644112151/BjtwDvA50#_rnd1408790858716

The content in English:

Have a chat with Jessica from Sennheiser today and confirmed some new issues:
- Orpheus 2 is for real, will formally announced in near future, priced between ¥250K (~US$40,600) to ¥300K n (~US$48,700);
- will have a flagship after HD800, open backed for sure, and more pricy;
- will announced new products within 60 days, products numbers are CX1.00 CX3.00 CX5.00, these will be the line under IE series, both product and package will definitely eye-opening.

Welcome to share with acknowledgement

I do not know the gentlemen in person, nor can I verify, confirm or falsify the message, so lets keep this as a rumor at this stage. Given the HD800 was announced at 2009 CES, and the recent raise in flagship yardstick, it is about time for Senn to do something. Lets see if the 60 days rumor on IEM products realised as stated, but my wild guess goes to CES 2015 for theb launching of new flagship products, as it can mark as a kick start for Senn's 70th anniversary campaign.

Looks like an error in translation.

It's probably Chinese RMB and not Japanese Yen, cause you know, the guy is Chinese and not Japanese....

30000 RMB = ~5000USD

Because ¥ is the official unit sign for RMB.

Going to be way too expensive for me. Sticking for the HD800 definitely.

Orpheus 2 sounds like it will be awesome though, and at $5000 if they can make a SR-009 killer it will do very well.

just to clarify...25w = 250k, 30w = 300k...

which is USD$50k....

Yes, I should have stated the US equivalent in the translation to avoid misunderstanding, W is a natural usage over here, instead of K.

The electrostat will be too rich for my blood, but good on Sennheiser for making a successor to the Orpheus. It's about time someone challenged STAX's high-end stat monopoly, else they'd probably charge $8k for their next one.

I'm more interested in the HD800 successor. I'll have a hard time justifying its price too, but it'll hopefully be more realistic. The HD800 is arguably the most well-engineered dynamic headphone ever made, and while I wouldn't be a fan of its sound signature, Sennheiser earned a lot of my respect for pushing the technology forward. If they can do the impossible and combine that soundstage, imaging and detail retrieval with a more natural signature like the HD600/650, I may finally have a reason to upgrade again.

This is how many people feel.

For what it's worth, there are certain modifications that can make the HD 800 sound more natural while retaining its technical prowess.
