Another shot. 3.5 to toslink cable similar to stock one being used.

1. I pulled the cable from the 3.5 side.
2. Measured twice, cut once -- this includes some additional length to the 3.5 tip.
3. Took out additional sheath from the cable that will go to the 3.5 side without cutting through the fibre cable.
4. Inserted and super glued. Including the white spacer.
5. Got my custom length. Even plays 24/192.

Cost me <$10.00. Was thinking of getting the sysconcept but i wanted flexibility of having the ak side by side with the hugo or back to back w/o having to change cables.

Interesting. I figured terminating a toslink cable was more complicated.

On another note, has anyone compared the 1/4" output to the mini outputs for differences in sound quality. I recall when I owned a Colorfly C4 Pro, the 1/4" output sounded better than the mini.

I'm going to need a new cable for my LCD-XCs, so if there is a sonic difference between the outputs, I'll know which connector to terminate the new cable with.

There is a pic of the insides. Find it.
If the terminals are all linked it should not matter

A 1/4 plug is going to have better contact points and slightly lower crosstalk, so definitely use that.

Major scoop, Currawong. Google shows nothing on this but for your post above. I want to know more please!

OT, but they have two models, one SE only, and one (shown in the picture) which is either SE or balanced for input and output.  When I went and asked them about it, they passed me one with cables and asked me to report on it. Pretty expensive though at 45,000 yen ($400-450 depending on exchange rate). I'll write more about it in my Tokyo.

(Accidentally posted this in the wrong thread, so three posts have been moved here now.)

Has anybody found a case that works particularly well with a 240 and a Hugo? I'm not a fan of the design of the Hugo case and I would think there are others who have come up with a good alternative.

DSD playback via NWZ A15 using DSD2FLAC.

Yes, I get it working fine with my X5, converting using Foobar. It's a shame that Flac is just a wrapper as it would halve the file size if Flac compression was used.
Is it just the photo? Your DSD light looks pure white, whilst mine is a shade of blue, though very diffent to the 176400 blue.

yea mine is pure white which is what it's for DSD.

Considering how cheap nwz a15 is the right now it isn't he cheapest and most innovative source we can find for Hugo. With future drop in microSD prices we can get two 128GB cards and be happy. The scanning is fast, folder view and 12-14 hours of digital out all for 249 AUD is not bad.

mmm.... perhaps my Hugo has a defective indicator light. It is definitely indicating DSD as it is the same shade as I get in the startup sequence. The circle appears to be illuminated from the side by the dots only. Maybe I have one light when there should be two?
