Here, for both X7 (with AM2) and E12A.

nice , so the E12As are slightly rolled off when compared to the x7

No.

A typical human's ear can notice a difference of about 1dB. There might be a 0.xdB difference in the measurement but it is way below what you can hear and as far as we are concerned, they are all perfectly flat.

I installed the AM2 earlier today and hooked up my HD650, I have to say the difference with the AM1 is huge to my ears, but that of course is no miracle as the AM1 was for IEMs.

But good stuff from Fiio once again.

I'll measure it later - but according to Fiio's measurements, the E12A definitely doesn't have rolled off treble.

Check the frequency graph - http://www.fiio.net/en/products/33/parameters

The one thing I've noticed on these boards - guys will talk about something they think they perceive with their ears.  In short time, someone else will confirm it, and then everyone "hears it" and takes it as gospel.  I wonder if you still hear the rolled off treble - now that you KNOW there actually is none

I don't know if you had a E12A amp, or listened to one, but it sounded way different. Mids were... natural ? Timbre seemed to fit even better, and texture seemed even more natural. Treble was... slightly rolled off.. It was silky smooth, no trace of harshness or sibillance. I started to think that what I perceived as rolled off treble might have been actually treble not being harsh (can something like this be measured?).

Also soundstage with E12A was more dependent on headphones than most other amps out there. With Dj one pro, soundstage was amazing, with ie8, it was even wider than with X5II alone. But with ie800,, soundstage came smaller, or rather separation was better while instrument sounds seem to came less from every direction and were more focused into creating a very good stereo image. If I were to compare, sounds that come from front with X5II, or come from back, or come from top or bottom, are less defined as such. Like, there is much better separation and details for sounds coming from left or right and small deviation, and much less separation and definition for sounds coming from top, bottom, front or back.

Another mention, most of these observation affect cymbals and treble in general, as well as the texture of some guitars and guitar effects, especially fuzzy guitars.

This is why I was curious if using muses02 would yield similar results.

Where did they market it like this? All I ever recall as far as modules go is IEM, high power, and balanced. No mention of tonality.

I belive that photo is Fiio's own marketing.  So, they did mention that one of the amp modules was going to be warm and one neutral at least.

that would be possible with 3rd party/diy modules. maybe at that point they had that idea and later just changed that?

No - they mentioned it was possible to change the tonality - they did not state that the AM2 or any other specific module would be actually be warm or neutral.  All we know about the proposed modules is that the IEM is lower power, the AM2 is medium (higher) power, and that there will be a balanced module some time in the future.

Welp. Guess I overloaded my IEM and one of the left sides drives dropped the soap. Now the driver is bust and sound is halved. It's gone forever, all I can do now is buy an expensive IEM, yes sir. That's what should be done.

Can't return it. Nope. No sir, not allowed. Nuh uh. No way, impossibly impossible, uncertain and terribly terrible. It's a dead horse now, yup.

right:horse::horse:there:horse::horse::horse: right:racehorse:there :racehorse::racehorse:if i do ƽeigh so my self :horse_racing: i neigh so :horse_racing: thats what im talking about right there right there (chorus: ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ) mMMMMᎷМ:horse_racing: :horse::horse: :horse:НO0ОଠOOOOOОଠଠOoooᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒ:horse: :horse::horse: :horse: :horse_racing: :horse: :skull::skull::skull::horse::horse:Dead horse

Now I'm eyeing either the oriolus or solar.

I'm ready.

While there can be a general consensus on tonality etc., it is just that general and there will always be differing opinions, which is understandable and acceptable, IMO. So to tonality it can be generalized but not an absolute. The new AM2, IMO, does a very good job of just enough "natural" warmth while preserving the overall quality of the original recording. And based on the recording, as to its technical achievements, I find that the AM2, gives good depth and width and layering and a musical presentation of the sound. Plenty of detail that extends naturally with bass performance that is deep and controlled. The AM2 works well with all the phones I have tried so far, including my IEM's such as the JH13Pro few phase. It should please many.
