Brand New : Tralucent Audio Ref.1 Too & original Ref.1

I hear you. Don't get me wrong. I've been listening to the ie800's for 3-4 months now. Very good iems. Like I mentioned, the ie800's signature seems to me to be inside my head and very well balanced in its presentation. But, the bass responsiveness doesn't come close to the Ref1 iems. Its in another league quite frankly. Monoboy, I think once you get the Ref1's, you'll see how much of a leap this really is.

Awesome, gonna be a ride when i finally get them!! was reading some of your other posts above with the Hans Zimmer tracks, truly amazing through great iem's....Man of Steel soundtrack with the drums is bloody fantastic!

I run/ran the ie800 in balanced mode. Better imaging I believe. Its soundstage seems more inside my head than in front of me. Bass response is decent, but doesn't even come close to the detail, texture and punch the Ref1 can reproduce. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how I look at it I guess, the Ref1 sets the standard (imo). Now I have and ie800 and Heir 8.a that will be mostly silent, sidelined & collecting dust.

Or maybe you should let go the 800/8.a

Gotta post here and just publicly thank Gavin for the Ref 1. Just received my pair Friday. So pumped!

I've been listening a bit here and there, still giving the Ref1 time to burn in. It's been 48 hours so far. They do sound awesome right now.......not sure of what IEMs seem to settle in at. 100 hrs? I believe my IE800's benefited and warmed up considerably after many hours and some of the harshness of the upper frequency spectrum went away. Anyways, just another happy camper added to the list satisfied customers of Gavin's fine audio line of products. Next up on my list? The "Uber". I keep telling myself this is it. Next thing you know, I'm reasoning out how and why I need it. Oh the things I do for me.

I think you need another 100 hours to have the Ref.1 settles in more.

I personally am quite impressed with the highs, very extended and detailed, but many possibilities as to why you didn't get that when listening to ie 800's (tip size etc).

On the flip side I never thought id hear anyone say the ie 800's would collect dust!! cannot wait for my ref 1 to arrive (like your description on the bass rrdubbs :D), my girlfriend loves the ie800 so may give them to her, on loan lol

As said, the session was very brief as 800 did not provide me a good first impression and anything becomes irrelevant.

Oh, once your Ref.1 arrives and you'd know the distance apart between the 800 and you will definitely provide us your impression.

Good advice. I'm dumping mine for sure, 8.0. I barely listen to them anymore. I did love it when I first bought it, being it was my first high end iem.

That's call funding the future.  I'm selling some used spare parts of my remote control helicopters and got over Rmb 1k back just for the last couple of weeks.

  Yup. Thought of that.
Gotta recoup some cash and turn it into a Uber!

My uber has been with me for a year now and is still 100% satisfied owning it with no second thoughts of other cables...go to the top in one go...and this is one way to save money.

Try this .dsf of Scheherazade, Op. 35 (Symphonic Suite after "A Thousand and One Nights"): Festival in Bagdad; The Sea; The Ship Goes to Pieces on a Rock Surmounted by a Bronze Warrior (Shipwreck); Conclusion - Fritz Reiner/CSO;Sidney Harth

I will leave it up for the next 12 hours or so. Enjoy!!!

about the music:
So intense. Its tempo, so driven and energetic, to be sure. Just when its getting apocalyptic
the music brings you back from the edge to a glorious sunrise of warmth and real feeling.

My piling on the superlatives still won't begin to do this piece justice........
The performance is so well executed. Well done! .......and its a 50+ year old recording for crying out loud.
Sublime is an understatement, if that's even possible?
I'm still dizzy thinking about this.....

Great audition music Gavin, to be sure!

about the Ref1:
I listened to this believe it or not about a dozen times. In one sitting no less. At some point I forgot I was even wearing the iem's. It sounded as if this was being performed in front of me. (.DSF so go figure!) It really is an impactful recording with great dynamics and clarity.  Imaging is excellent, with the strings spread out, winds playful with plenty of space. The percusion spot on. The solo violin at the end, so delicate, it was like a whisper. The Ref1 really shined here.
And to think these iEMs getting better over time? .....I'm somewheres at 72 hours in breakin. All I can say, is if everything remains as is, that'll be just fine by me.

.........and I'mmmmmmm spent.

72 hours?  Early days early days.

After some 200 hours then your Ref.1 will shine.
