Meaning the sleeving that history would crack and split after after a few months of use is just the same as it used to be?

Now it's time for some serious listening...impressions soon!
Unfortunately, I don't have a pair of HE-500 on me right now. I used to owned a pair of HE-400, and these are definitely everything the HE-400 was in the bass department and more. The bass is tight and textured, and shows up with quantity and punch when called for, particularly with my bass heavy Trap/Dubstep/Deep House music. I imagine this changes quite a bit with source/amplification components, just because swapping out tubes in my Aune T1 already yielded appreciable differences in the quantity/impact of bass these cans put out.
Hope that helps!
Stjj, Any subjective comments about comfort overall? Thank you very much.
...only issue with these is that the opening is a tad small for my large ears, so the edges of my ears get a little irritated after extended periods of wear...
I am very discouraged to hear this. I traditionally have problems with ear openings being too small. I'd say my ears are on the medium-large size. For example, I've had to return the full size Momentum and NAD HP50.
I hope HiFiMAN is not following this new trend of smaller pads.
Can someone compare and report the difference between these pads and my HE-500, please?

The openings are identical in size to previous Hifiman earpads, but are deeper so there is more volume of space. I have medium-sized ears and it is much more spacious than older HFM pads, enough so that it is not an issue for me.
Basically if your ears are ok with older Hifiman pads, these should be no problem and more spacious in fact. If your ears were too long for older HFM pads, these will also be problematic. If your ears weren't too long, but were too fanned-out for older HFM pads (where tip of your ear could touch the driver), these will be a lot better.
Thanks for your input, jerg.
I am relieved to hear the HE-560 pads are the same inside diameter, yet slightly deeper. Pretty anxious to receive mine. I ordered them twelve days ago.
