Hi,
This works for us!
I wonder how folks would feel about an iFi audio table to mount the devices on that would spin making the setup slightly more user friendly.
Hi,
This works for us!
Still pushing for the ESS I see, would be nice to see someone pick it up by now but does it hits the market yet? Actually I think iDAC uses MAX9722, not the more powerful MAX97220.
I would second this. I already own the iCAN and iUSB Power. I would rather have the best possible sounding line-outs possible to run into my iCAN over the myriad of features. I understand popular demand is driving this thing, but to me you should just make the best possible sounding DAC you can: an absolute, stripped down, hot rodded little DAC that fills its niche in the ifi device structure. Maybe you could make a special "AMR Edition" micro iDSD that is focused purely on the RCA outs rather than the bells and whistles.

the thing that i am most curious about right now: when you look at the way the micro iUSB is designed, with dual USB out and the Gemini cable with a dual USB on one side...
would it actually make sense to make the input on the other side a split input as well (USB input power only plus USB input power+audio)? (of course you would need a USB cable with dual USB plugs on both sides)
If there are any sonic improvements (?) keeping the USB signal split up all the way into the device then why not.
if there is ever going to be a stand alone micro iDSD DAC, that could be part of that design.

I third this idea. I also already have the iTube and the iUSB Power, and would love a pure DAC version of the micro iDSD to fit into this chain.

Hi,
Separate USB inputs for audio+power is not really going to happen. Not enough real estate in the micro chassis.
Nevertheless, we'll run your suggestion by Thorsten and his team as they are beavering away in the skunkworks lab trying out some of the features mentioned here already as some are clear winners.
The incremental gain of two USB 'B' inputs may not be worth the extra effort but we may still ask our Skunkworks to build a prototype to audition.
We got a feeling the mini iDSD is going to be the next Crowd-Design project. mmmm.
Hi,
This line of suggestion has given us an idea to run a poll....get ready and be prepared to get involved and ask your friends to come in too.
It would be really neat to find out how many of you use your DACs for portable and how many for desktop situations.

Hi,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. You mean you trust our call on the features? For the micro iDSD, in turn, we are relying on customer design inputs into the features!
Hi Vince,
Just found this fora and thread, I'm not really a Headphone Aficionado so I feel slightly out of my comfort zone..
Browsed the thread and most things I'd point to have all ready been touched on.
As an IDac )and iPhono) user I have a few thoughts on what would want me to upgrade to a Micro iDSD.
Firstly, as I rarely use the the built in headphone amp, I say ditch it for the Micro iDSD as any serious user will want the iCan and if You're portable the nano iDSD!
Secondly, I would not mind a co-ax input so that I can hook up something besides the computer.
Thirdly, despite me thinking that the USB connectors suck mechanically I guess it is a format we will have to live with for the time being!. Using USB3 would be preferable for me.
fourthly, I love the size of the iDac! But it is a tad lightweight when You use it whit a heavy cable like the Genesis, like the included feet are fine but some thick self-adhesive Velcro to anchor it to any surface would be a very positive update in the box of most iFi products...
Keep up the good work!
Cheers/ptr
