hsubox and I are setting up a blind sort of "Pepsi Challenge" (does that show my age?). We are going to put my HF-2's up against his PS500's. As stated previously, I will be bringing my Onkyo DV-S939 Reference DVD/Audio Player. I will be bringing a few cds of my own for people to tryout if they like. You as more than welcome to bring your own cds. I will also setup my Macbook Air (running Foobar2000) out to my FiiO E18 as a 2nd source. I will have about 700gb of music with it. If you have some music you would like to listen to, put it on a flash drive and we can make it happen.
 
I think it would be fun to get everyone's input to see which they prefer, blindly, and why.

Not too old here! The Pepsi Challenge was incredibly smug (as were those pushy, self-congratulatory Pepsi commercials). Fortunately, time has revealed that the first pleasurable sip of "slightly sweeter" doesn't win out over the long term. Coke is #1 AND #2 now... LOL. Though really all those old soft drinks are WAY too sweet by modern standards. Like drinking liquid birthday cake. Blecgh! I'll have an array of my not-patented-but-still-awesome guava lime spritzers on hand at the party. Much more refreshing than the old stuff.
 
*ahem* that being said... would love to hear a HF-2/PS500 face off. Is anyone bringing a Decware Taboo? I love the synergy with Grados... really nice.

I'll be pairing the AK240 with the Enigma. If you want to hear the headphone on your own setup, let me know. I'll only have 3.5mm and 2.5mm terminations for the Enigma however. Similarly for the AK240, you're free to plug in your own headphones and give it a whirl.
 
Might be a good idea to bring your own music on a USB flash drive so you can listen to music you're familiar to, as I'm fairly certain most of what I have currently on the AK240 is probably not to your tastes.

I wanted to ask, for the "Ear-off" HF-2 vs PS500, if people would rather make their observations on paper or would it be ok with everyone for me to setup a laptop for everyone to log in and post their findings here? The reason I ask this is just in case someone has reservations about logging into what would essentially be a public terminal. I will be bringing my 4G hotspot just in the event this hotel doesn't have wifi, I can't imagine that would be the case. I can assure you that no logins or passwords will be saved. I am setting up a Virtual Machine that will be deleted before I leave the meet just to put people at ease if this is a concern. I just want to offer people the chance to post their input while it is fresh on their mind.

Going to get mostly packed up tonight so I can head to bed early tomorrow. 6am to likely midnight will make for a long Sunday. I say mostly packed, cause the ECP Black Diamond was delivered today and I've totally wasted like 3 hours listening to it when I should have started packing already :rolleyes:

By the way, MrFaust, this isn't being held in a hotel, but a condo building. AFAIK there is no provided wifi, this is just a community activity room, not a staffed ballroom.

OK, good to know, so it works out that I will be bringing my hotspot then. It can handle 5 devices being connected at the same time in case other's need internet access.
