Actually yes.  Both the 100II and 120II came out after the 240.

Probably at that time it was too close to then quite new AK120 as such the 120ii launched much later than the 240 to give the original 120 more time on the market.

I find my case not so practical. It's really more a pouch than a case. Since I was taking it in & out so much, it was a little too fitting for such kinds of use that I felt I'd risk dropping my AK240 instead. As such I preferred just having a larger looser, drop pouch over the Van Nuys.

I also used it together with my Minerva leather case but as mentioned since the Van Nuys it damages the Minerva leather case rather easily.

Edit: The Van Nuys case for the AK120 was somewhat nicer since it could fold down the flap to access the screen without actually removing the AK120 from the pouch.

I find the Vannuys is also not practical and I am looking for a sexy pouch for my AK. I have a fairly practical Casino camera leather pouch fitting perfectly but I want sexy.

The two Van Nuys cases for the 240 are available directly from iRiver.

Correction: It looks like the Van Nuys cases are no longer available from iRiver. On further investigation, it looks like both cases have been discontinued.

I purchased the Van Nuys drawstring pouch from iRiver and as was mentioned, it did damage the stock leather case. IMO, the Van Nuys case I had was incredibly overpriced and also, for no apparent reason, developed strange pockmarks in the material that multiplied overtime. Overall, a good thing those cases have been discontinued.

Yes I have these too. Clearly overpriced, not convenient. I am done with Vannuys.

The Best Case I have found thanks to Headfier 'TheLastDevil' is the Lowepro Volta 20:

1) Fits like a glove even with the AK leather condom on.

2) Soft felt-y insides are very un-damaging.

3) Double zippers so you can partially close it w/cable attached and use the touch screen or buttons...see pic.

3) Has belt loop.

4) Semi-Hard shell case is very protective.

5) Cheap, cheap, cheap...I paid $11 from BestBuy DELIVERED!

This was posted in AK's Fb page 12 mins ago: AK240SS, 3200 Euros.

Limitierte Auflage unseres AK240 in Edelstahl wie bei renomierten Uhrenherstellern, nicht nur bessere Haptik sondern auch besserer Klang empf.Vk 3200 euro vorbestellbar
SS means Stainless Steel. So AK240SS means AK240 special edition with Stainless Steel body.
By preparing special edition of AK240, we want to make it as below :...
- It must have stronger body than Duralumin.
- It must have attractive color & better Build quality
- It must provide better Sensitivity quality.
- It must keep same H/W spec (Not to offend current AK240 users).
- It must have different(improved) sound.
- It must be Special !
And now you wonder why SS.
Generally Stainless Steel, technically SUS303, is not proper material for electronic gadget cabinet especially portable device.
Because SS has much stronger Hardness and Tensile strength than Aluminum (Duralumin is also kind of Aluminum) which means it has very BAD machinability and it makes Extreme hard for manufacturing process. So normally SS is used for Tool and mechanical parts.
Nevertheless its High manufacturing cost, but the Build quality and Feeling of its raw material gives exactly what we desired for AK240 special edition. For this same reason, your Rolex watch and its strep are made by Stainless Steel.
And what about the Different Sound? Any sonic change with SS body?
The answer is “Yes”. Because GND is one of factor which affects sonically changes in the Hifi. AK240 has limited GND areas with its laser etched Anodized Duralumin surface but this pure SS body using its whole surface as GND points and it brings Sonically changes from AK240. So without any H/W and F/W changes, we can achieve more clear and focused sound what we never experienced from AK240.
Also its new French leather case and Carbon fiber with real Glass back plate add its value as special edition
