The Astell & Kern AK240

Carrying an extra microSD card is not much of a sacrifice to have one's collection available at his fingertips.

Just secure it in a clean sleeve in your wallet. You can even keep it in a full size adapter to protect it.

Now that is dumb. But ok I guess
Thanks

AK120 ➝ Internal on-board 64GB + 2 x 128GB SD card (I assume it takes 128gb, correct me if i am wrong) = 320GB
AK240 ➝ Internal onboard 256GB + 1 x 128GB SD card = 384GB

Technically there is more storage space on the AK240. Nevertheless this is only a storage space comparison.
Sound is a more important expect for me. I have 109GB worth of music on my on-board storage. dummy SD card on my 240.

Well I thought the same.  However, since the AK240 has MQS streaming, this makes storage requirement a lesser concern for home use.  I bought a 128 Gb card for my AK240 at the same time, only realizing it is not really needed so I gave it to me AK120.

Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned this before anywhere in the forums, but the device attachment to the computer for the AK120 and AK240 are different.  The AK120 attach itself into Windows 8 just like 3 external USB drives, so you can do multiple copy and paste to/from the unit at the same time.  However, since the AK240 attach itself as a device like a CD drive, you cannot C/P in or out of it when you are already in the middle of another C/P.  Personally I think this is a bummer but necessary to make everything else works.

People relax. It's just an observation. As it had two now only one.
It's still plenty of storage for minke use.
And as i now have a HDP r10 and a hugo it's still smaller and just one pc as aposed to a stack like now.

That's what I'm doing carrying the other card in a full size sleeve. Not really bother anyone to carry the extra card(s).

My Ak240 just prompts me to upgrade the firmware to v1.18. But I cannot find any information on it. Anyone also seen this upgrade?

According to the iriver site, it resolves an unresponsive touch screen issue.

if you see ak's advertised less than retail they're breaking the dealer's moral contract. but after you contact them then they can sell for whatever they want, they just cant advertise lower prices.

Can't you just download "Android File Transfer"? Or are you just using a PC? That's what I use.
Just like with any Android OS phone, you can create folders, drag and drop, and edit on your computer.

I found an open box like new but not new for 2k froma legit dealer and full warrentee . I guess I just got lucky.
Why it cannot be discounted is just not cool for us buyers. Yet I we told by photo runs sales at 2k at times .so just hat is fair for us buyers .

Let me correct my post after reading what Ted found out from the N. American rep for Astel and Kern:

"Best price I've seen and heard about. With the 128 card its a no brainer.....I think. to stay far away from this and any other non-factory authorized dealer.

And for the record, I bought mine from Ted, and I would buy from him again even if he is more money because of the customer service he provides.
