Besides, P. T. Barnum, I've been thinking about these pictures all day long once I saw AK240

Looks like 'Stealth' technology has finally made it to DAP design...it's about time...

It doesn't look like they updated their software at all. For double the price that I paid for my HD800's you'd think you'd get more than '01 - Unknown Artist (unknown)'.
I actually don't hate the optical illusion design.
There are a lot of people walking around with $1k amps connected to their AK120's. Maybe it's a deal if the amp section delivers.

- what do you think on the choice of the CS4398 ?  Do you believe that it is better than the WM8740 ?  or the WM8741 that Vinnie use in the RWAK120 ?  what are it's advantage ?

- Any idea of what they mean by "Output: Balanced Out (2,5mm. only 4-pole supported) " ? Is it a real line-out like in the RWAK120-b to feed an external AMP?  can it also provide SE (NON balanced) line out for an SE Headphone Amplifiers ?   What is a "2,5mm-4pole" ? ?

Think I'd be more worried about the surface I'd dropped the dap onto never mind the dap itself.  Is that price of $2400 confirmed then?  Lord only (Straight £$ swop) knows what the uk price would be.

I suppose, but jeez, it's just as big as an RWAK120B/C + AMP of your choice. Not to mention that could be a balanced amp if you wanted and Vinnie's version will probably sound better.

Apparently the AK240 also has a BALANCED Out !  but...what do they mean by "Output: Balanced Out (2,5mm. only 4-pole supported) " ? This is a "2.5mm-4 pole":

The problem is everybody else (HM-901, RWAK-120B) uses 3.5mm 4 poles, NOT 2.5mm, so it looks like iRiver will be irritatingly different. Which means all those headset cables that you own will need to be re-terminated with their unique plug size....oh boy...NOT.
