  No delivery notice yet.

Ibasso responded to me yesterday about 12 hours after I sent them an e-mail.

I imagine they're crazy busy right now, packing DX90s up and double-checking addresses, orders, etc, etc, and building additional units. It's probably a mad house right now.

I think they are busy

Its way more than just 1000 units... Think about retailers worldwide .

1st batch was stated to be 1,000 (not sure if this info is 100% legit)

*the fact that it hasn't officially been "sold out" has me a little puzzled. I'm wondering if it's the higher price point, or if people are just scared of becoming beta pigs after they were traumatized by the DX100/50 release or a combination of all of the above. Also, the X5 launching earlier at a cheaper price might have taken away some potential customers. All just speculation of course.

You are somewhat right. The number looks better on DX90 for the most parts but when it comes to full output, you can see X3 and X5 can comfortable max out (and almost double the output) and still has THD under 1%. Basically it means DX90 should have the advantage as long as you don't push it outside of its comfort zone. The further you push it, the more X5 will catch up, and overtake when near / over 150mW is needed. But with that much power into 32ohm, DX50 should be just fine with most headphone out there.

iBasso stated it can do 2.8Vrms, but it is not that same as saying it is the maximum undistorted output. It is the 1% THD threshold that matters. Gain setting doesn't have much to do with it directly. What the measurement means is that you keep pushing the volume (and gain) higher and higher until you hit the 1% mark (or you max out on volume and gain, like X3 / X5 in this case). The 1% mark is chosen because it is believed that that is the point when distortion becomes audible to human ears. So basically it is a test to show the maximum power you can get into a certain load until you start to distort the sound audibly.

That's what I noticed from the DX50  it distorts when raising the volume over a certain value when I tested it with my LCD-3  at this new value it should do much better but they should address that detail, a nice DAP should reach it's maximum output without passing the 1% value.

I've asked Ibasso if they were able to keep up with orders and they told me not to worry, they have "plenty of stock to keep up with orders this time".

I think its a good news. At least SOME machines are out there waiting.

I think 0.1% is generally considered that threshold in steady state testing. Of course, transducers tend to be higher but one type doesn't necessarily mask another. I think 1% is used because it will be the threshold of clipping and the 1% is, as you note, difficult to hear in a transient where it would actually come into play while listening.

That's good. Perhaps they had way more than a thousand pieces in reserve, which would be great news for everyone who waited so patiently until April 7th. Well, I hope everyone who ordered in the first couple of days gets their DX90 sometime next week. That would be very nice.

The measurements on all those DAPs are good enough that it wont relate to the differences that you hear. Below clipping, the only audible difference that you can derive from the #s is the minor bass roll in the DX50 due to the output coupling caps and it's small enough not to be the dominant sig. They will sound different but you wont know how or get a qualitatively difference from looking at those graphs.

Quick questions, currently there is a bass boost on this beautiful DAP ? I like listening at low volume with good bass ...

Any date or confirmation about the USB DAC functionality ? Thanks in advance for your responses !

Edit: It will be charging or keeping the charge when in USB DAC mode ?

No bass boost but an eq facility
