I will do further testing but for the moment see no point in two holes, tho it doesn't bother me, it just would have been nice to have a non vol controlled line out,x5 had a better LO imo,so does 901 tru the HO

Actually, I think making the LO gain adjustable is brilliant for better output/input matching. I just wish the DX90 had separate memory settings for HO and LO!

Next thing you know people will be complaining the DX90s are broken because there is no sound coming out of the coaxial jack lol

Um, I've done that a few times. That hole is where I just naturally want to stick my plug

Use whatever you are happy with and think work and sound best to you

Sound advice!

If you use the LO you are bypassing the internal amp section. Even if you adjust the the HO to be the same as the LO, when the volume is set to max for the LO, you are double amping by using the HO into another amp section. Now if the HO is clean, then it is acting like a preamp but often, as in home rigs for speakers, the most transparent is a passive pre section. But whatever works and pleases the ear. That is what this is all about.

Thanks for explaining it so clear, that was all obvious to me and thats why i decided to share that to me there is no real difference in using either, but also that imo the LO is not really needed in that case since the HO is on the same level of performance amped or not:thumbsup:

Nothing wrong with using the low impedance active output of the headphone jack over the high impedance passive output of the line out jack.

I compared DX90/O2 combo over M8 and like you mentioned I find the combination far better than M8 + iPod or Mac. This is both with Beyer T1 and DT235 phones.

Given the Concero HP uses the same DAC as DX90, the difference if any is most certainly subtle. I think all you need to do is pair DX90 with an amp if you need more power using hard to drive phones. IMO, transparent amp reveal more of DX90's Dual-DACs prowess. O2 is a good start. Violectric V90 maybe a bit overkill but will surely drive any phones you throw at it with authority and with very reasonable price.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to wait to hear how the DX90 sounds as a pass through as soon as the 64bit drivers get released. For those of you able to already use the DX90 as a pass through DAC, how does it sound? It is a pretty noticeable improvement over your computer's soundcard?

I believe they've been saying that the audio is out of sync with video.  Ie not usable for media other than music.

This. Your outboard HP amp's inputs may match better with either the low- or high-impedance outputs...it depends on the design of the HP amp, but it may ultimately put out more power and/or with lower distortion depending on the impedance.

Probably a no but just want to make sure. Does the volume matter when burning in? I figured I should burn in my headphones while I burn in the player at the same time.

@urtv: I've always heard/read to burn in HP at slightly higher than your typical listening volume. Others can chime in if they have differing opinions.

This is what I thought as well, but a while back iBasso said it does not make a difference.

iBasso is only referring to DAPs, which the volume doesn't matter. But for headphones (dynamic drivers) setting the volume at a higher level than normal will hasten the burn process.
