The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

If anyone sees any deals on a good computer audio setup with a small footprint, please post up.  Been looking at the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, Harmon Kardon Soundsticks III 2.1, etc...  I like the idea of having a subwoofer under the desk, but I need the speakers to be relatively small due to space limitations.  Would like to stay under $200 if possible.

Thanks!

Sam

Check out the Swan M10. Alternatively, grab some passive bookshelf speakers and an amp for a 2.0 setup and add a sub later. You could even get some decent powered speakers that will likely sound better than any mainstream 2.1 "computer speakers". There a lots of them out there, so searching around would be best.

The Klipsch Promedias are $139 shipped at BestBuy. Not likely to do much better than that for a new pair.

Thanks, cel.  I saw those and they look hard to beat.  The only negative comments I've seen have been about the wiring being a bit frail if they get moved around.

Hmmmm....those look interesting.  I'm starting to read up on them...thanks for the heads-up!

Those Swans M10s are pretty nice. I bought a set for my brother, and they are surprisingly musical. Definitely worth researching. They are not the most powerful sounding speakers, but they are musical. Really gets into the soul of the music.

I've never tried the Klipsch computer speakers, but if you're ever looking for floorstanders, the F series are surprisingly good.

I have the F20 and older F3, and I love them both. They pair very well with single ended tube amps, and also sound great with Tripath, etc. digital amps.

So sometimes Klipsch does make some killer modern speaker products.

The older classic horn loaded models are, of course, legendary when paired with tube amplification.

The Swan M10's look like great value for money.  They only thing that worries me is that I've seen several reviews that indicate white noise (a hiss) and very clearly picking up a radio station (country, PBS, whatever) due to poor wires.  Interestingly, the reviewer either has that effect or they do not.  those that don't, love them.   Dang...I really like these as an option.

Doubt it will be less than 150 like that other retailer.

I wouldn't call them a retailer.

Also, two big sales on the Q701... wonder if there's a Q712 coming...

Fiio E18 at SonicElectronix for $119 w coupon code SDAMP http://www.sonicelectronix.com/search?keyword=fiio+e18

That's a smokin deal.  It's a good thing I decided I don't need one.  A month ago and I'd have been all over it...

Seems like a good deal on the E18.

After reading some reviews, however, I walk away not wanting to get it.

Seems like SQ isn't as good as some of FiiO's other offerings.

I don't know if anything has changed since the initial reviews, but I get the impression from the reviews that the E17 sounds better.

But it seems like a good deal for anyone wanting an E18.
