That's not really convenient if I frequently add music to my sd card.

I have lots of music which I don't want to be scanned: for example audiobooks, podcasts and my electronic/techno playlists. That's why at the moment I'm using a Sansa with rockbox firmware installed and I can't upgrade my music player. I keep all the music that I don't need to be indexed in the database in a folder with a file named database.ignore inside. With this simple method I can put music on my player and keep autoupdating the database without messing anything up.

here are the 3 options I use:
1-get one µSD for each kind of media. I even have one with classical only as I do not enjoy going from rammstein to chopin randomly ^_^.
2-keep a spare sansa clip for audiobooks only(and at least you know where your other µSD is ^_^).
3-get a DAP that deals with audiobooks well, some android players, a sony ... that knows to keep audiobook and music sections separated.

I use 1 for massive collections, 2 for sport, 3 for traveling light and comfy.

I know I'm gonna get a lot of comment if I buy this calling it a "knock-off" iPod. My question is how well does this match up well with iPods? I imagine it does pretty well but I'd like to be able to strike back with a "it sounds just as good" without embarassing myself.

Hi everyone! So i'm a student..of somewhat limited means..and i want to buy a new device, i have a budget of only US$ 150. I've got a mix of flac and 320kbps mp3 files. I do most of my listening indoors, but i do travel a fair bit as well. My dilemma is whether to get the x1, or to get the e07k dac/amp, i can't buy both. I'll be using the e07k with my laptop mostly, and i don't have another dap or dac or amp or anything. I use my Lumia 925 when i'm traveling but it leaves a lot to be desired. Which one of these, x1 or e07k would sound better when used ALONE(barring the laptop with e07k, but that's more of a liability i guess). I have mh1, mh1c, xiaomi pistons 2.1, sennheiser px80 and hd180, jbl j33, and soundmagic e10 to be driven. I thought of getting a better full sized headphone but i though having a better source to listen from would be better.

Any help..would be deeply appreciated!!

Hey, i've been following this thread for a while now, but this is my first post here on head-fi.

Anyways, i ordered a X1 a while ago, and i just got this email, thought you guys might be interested;

Dear ***,

We have some good news about the Fiio X1 that we would like to share with you! All the orders that are placed until now are on their way to Holland this very moment.

As you know, it took a little longer than we expected. The biggest cause of the delay is the scrollwheel, which gave a problem after the first batch was send. This problem needed to be fixed first and is fixed now, so you can be sure that your Fiio X1 is perfect!

Also new is the X1 in champagne colour. For all the pre-order we retain the silver one, but if you prefer the champagne coloured one, that is also a possibility. We can change that for you. The delivery time of both colours is the same.

Our apologies for the delay and inconvenience and lots of fun with your X1!

So apparently the Champagne color is coming with this batch, and there will also be improvements to the scroll wheel. Seems like good news. It's from HDPHNS.com ny the way, an official dealer of Fiio in the Netherlands.

wow I hope my wheel is ok since it is older

Hi James and all at Head-Fi,

I just got a X1 and it is working out nicely so far. However I'm not seeing anywhere to activate ReplayGain. Is this available on the X1? If not, will it be added in the future?

Thanks,
Beau

What is the issue with the scroll wheel that has been corrected? Mine is very often unresponsive until I turn it a few clicks, but I hadn't brought it up, expecting the usual "limited resources blah blah if you want an ipod buy an ipod" response that criticism is met with. However, if this is the issue that has been addressed in the new batch, I need to get mine replaced.
