Did anyone get a pair of K812s without any issues?

zero issues here.  I brought it to the BayAreaHeadphonesMeet last weekend and had some friends in the biz listen to it.  Both Jason (Schiit Audio) and Alex (Calvalli Audio) liked the K812.

After reading up on the Phonitor and the new 2 model, I decided to order these from SPL USA. They should be here in about 2 weeks. The video Jude posted also inspired me. This amp plays great with the AKG K812 as well as the HD800, which covers all my bases. Anyone interested in buying a Schitt Lyr or Mjolinor please PM me.

Congrats!  Did you order the original or the 2?  The 2 adds analog RCA input.

My S/N was 1813 for those interested. Hopefully I just got unlucky and a vast majority of them are built well and sound good. The earpads not lining up is such a strange problem. Never heard of it before, so I actually missed it for a few days. Something looked funny and I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought surely the pads are not attached correctly... but it turns out the attachment rings didn't line up and then I was like:

For what it's worth Audez'e customer service is amazing. They really took care of me too, like Brian at RazorDog is doing for me right now. As long as I'm within the warranty period I wouldn't worry at all. Outside of it... maybe I'm a little nervous. Haha.

I agree 100%. Razordog took care of my issue ASAP. Brian is a quality guy to do business with. That's especially important when so many of us can only buy these products sight unseen and never heard, which makes Head-Fi such an essential resource. It's a shame there aren't more head shops,(for phones, not weed products for medicinal purposes).
Innerfidelity has a great story up right now about the lack of headphone retailers and the huge business opportunities being missed, with great links for further reading including an excellent piece by the guys at360.org.

Thanks, macbob. I must confess I agonized over this for quite a while. This is my first DHC cable... :)

I really want/need to get an aftermarket for these. The stock cable is just way too long for my needs.

Indeed I will! Heheh! What drives me nuts is how flimsy/fragile the stock cable feels... I'm sure I'll kill it one day. So, a backup would not be a bad thing. Yes, the stock cable, at 10 feet, is a wee bit long.

Why do folks always put their hand on their mouth when listening to headphones?
