DIY your own Theme for your lovely X3
Mar 2, 2014 at 1:49 PM Post #92 of 678

I couldnt find any theme design for X3 i would like. To much colour or crazy anime culture for my eyes. So here is my design for everyone who prefer minimalistic black and white style. There is a few more changes than just these two sreens but im lazy to upload it. For example i changed some tittles in menu which was too long (Songs informations to Song info, Browse files to just Browse and few others). It comes with fw 2.1. Tittle changes comes only for english language. You install it just like new firmware.

download: soon

Can you please post a link to your theme or just PM me the theme. I'm interested in taking a look under the hood and maybe incorporating some elements into my custom theme. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, Mr Trev. I'll give it a shot. I think I read that the tools are Windows-only, so I'll have to bring home my work laptop. Sounds like what I'd like is to copy the font from your theme over to CH23's theme. There's no way to do that besides the Windows-only tool?

The only tool released is the .exe based "Windows" tool, which doesn't mean that it is only usable on windows based systems.

With a program like WineHQ (or wine for short) you can easily use .exe compiled programs on Unix-like systems (this includes Mac OSX since it's based on BSD).

As for the .bat files, well you don't actually need them since they're only scripts containing one line commands.
- unpack.bat contains: packtools --unpack -i x3.fw -o x3
- pack.bat contains: packtools --pack -i x3 -o x3.fw -m x3

On my GNU/Linux based systems, using wine I can easily use FiiO:s "Windows Only™" tool.
The syntax is now:
- for the "Pack" function: wine packtools --pack -i x3 -o x3.fw -m x3
- for the "Unpack" funtion: wine packtools --unpack -i x3.fw -o x3

tl;dr put "wine" in front of the command and you'll be okay.

If you went "wat" when reading this and does not understand it at all, then i can supply you with .sh scripts doing what i just described (which should work on most Unix-like systems using the "bash"(
Bourne Again SHell)
, i.e most modern GNU/Linux distros and OSX).
You'll have to install "WineHQ" on your own firstly though.

Just keeping you guys updated.
I'm doing an extensive theme of my own which revolves around a common "music" themed anime called K-On!

FiiO may or may not be doing a new theme that will involve a 5 band equalizer. If they do, oh man will I go all out if they decide that their theme will be open sourced! (I'd make my own custom theme from scratch, but I can't program if you taught me to. Trust me, I've been taught.)

I just have the boot animations, and very short shutdown animation that is presentable. The rest is halfway done :)

Yes, the animation makes the fiio's boot up seem fast, when it's really not. The animation after the black pause is the shutdown sequence.

I've used WINE on Linux and my Mac before. Not enough of a ninja to mod the scripts, though. Figure at this point that the improvements in the upcoming firmware will be big enough that I'll abandon the old, customizable firmware. Not sure how easy it'll be to customize the upcoming firmware.

Hey im a new guy here. I recently bought the X3, and had to make a theme for it.
So here it is. Some sort of Evangelion style interface. Im not sure but some parts might not be done. Its largly based on "Extreme Dark Theme" by watashi101.

Here's a link to the gallery, because my account is new and I cant upload images to this site. The camera shot quality is quite bad btw.

BRAVO! MY GOD THAT'S AMAZING! I loved Evangelion, you don't mind if I insert it to my third theme do you!?

Man, I'm going to have to rethink my K-On! Theme. I honestly might not even upgrade my UI to the new FiiO one coming out because of that Evangelion theme :D

I have now created scripts and instructions for Packtools under Unix-like systems.
Everything can be downloaded here: https://db.tt/6vlPx023 .

If you think that i should add something feel free to tell me.

I have no idea what Evangelion is, but it looks pretty good

I'm really hoping that we'll still be able to do some mods to the new UI. Have a couple of ideas already....

I know right? But other users have already made amazing User Interfaces that directly relate to my favourite likings (anime and whatnot). Believe it or not, these user interfaces created by other users are so good I might even forget about UI 2.0 :p

Although, the new user interface from FiiO has 5 EQ bars! I'd love to drop my mids and treble to shake my cans!

Hey all. Here's a beta UI for the beta firmware. It is list based (apparently some people like that sort of thing
wink.gif
) I already included the volume mod, and put sleep/standby in the correct positions. There is still much to do, but I probably won't bother right now since no-one knows what will change by the time the final is released (seems like there's still a fair bit of x5 stuff still in there too). If anybody has suggestions (or better, wants to tweak it themselves) feel free.

Enjoy.

Thanks Mr Trev!

Looks great, anyway to swap the Browse & Playing or are the menu positions hard coded?
