External Dac/Amp + Smartphone UI is the future!

Listening to mine right now.

If someone makes an amp/dac about the size of a digizoid in thickness and height/width with about 250mW @32  and makes a case for the phone that the dac/amp can slide into like a pocket and still be about as thick (phone + dac/amp)  as an X5 and other like devices....that could be a winner.

The sleeve design would make it easy as **** for an average user  and it would be as easy as putting on a new phone cover/protector cuz that's what it is...with an amp/dac stuck in it. Wanna switch to the phone only?...change to the other regular cover.

Easy peasy

That's about the size you want it.

Atm I can dual lock a snap out hard cover (case) to the dac/amp which let's me easily rig/unrig my Galaxy S4. But I'm a very lazy individual and keep them separately with a 80cm data cable connecting them so can just pick up the phone..

My heart and thought is in the right place though.

Smartphones (and iPhones)

We have the music apps, UI, screen resolution, beautiful HUGE album art etc. No sad state of the smartphones.

 Companies are like...

Can you imagine if a dac/amp  (iphone /android) built into a cover were hanging on a rack at the Verizon? ****....you could have differently tuned ones and on and on. There is a market...a huge one that wants their phone to kick ass ..would pay good but those same folks won't even consider carrying another sole purpose device around...for what?

I believe Vmoda have already done something close with thier VAMP.

It was quite expensive and had different cases for different phone models There's another one by a different company, forget the name.

I think it's more about 'connecting my outboard motor of choice' that inspires me about the concept and I do believe there's a big market in it.

Cozoy who designed the tiny Astrapi were onto the right idea. That's what we need more of.

I think Centrance has one in the works.

More the better imo.

I'll always have audiophile DAP's around, guess I'm just a born and bred Head-fi 'enthusiast', but my eyes were extremely opened a few weeks ago after connecting Tralucent DacAmp One with my Galaxy S4,the UI etc.

This setup keeps up with my DX90, Pono Player and (imo) Cayin N6 quite easily.

 LOL

It's going in the right direction. No android and the placement of the hardware below the unit is not really... my ideal

Thanks for the info though

This!!!

FiiO is apparently making "Modules" for the X7 but the usable screen area is going to 4" which is deal breaker #1 and only 1 gig of ram is breaker #2. The Idevices seem to benefit from mature and strict coding which makes good use of 1 gig but Droid is wild west open and sometimes it needs that 3 gig of ram.
I like the switchable engine/module direction though when it's good for any smartphone and is  again.....about this big

Slide a unit "engine" into a  phone cover designed for something with this profile and I got money for you

As for the Verza....

Hey guys, I know you want a killer sounding handset but have either of you thought about giving the DAP industry another chance? Fiio is currently working on a new flagship DAP and early renderings the thing is pretty nicely sized. Very smartphone looking from what i've seen of it.

The AR M2 fits within the footprint of the Galaxy S6, and sounds fantastic... Could arguably try and squeeze a SIM card and radios in there, but then you're back to compromises, even with a 4000mah battery inside, only gives you 9hrs of music time (as the preamp section is always powered on)... 300mw into 32ohms though iirc, tasty :)

If we ever get those batteries that can be fully charged from flat in 10 minutes, I'll be the first to knock on the door of the first company that brings such an item to market.

I just took the plunge and rooted my HTC One M8, installed a really great sound mod (Dragon-fi Audio) and new kernel, then added Fauxsound app.

This not only tweaked the phone's sound quality into space but allowed me to unlock the true strength of the amp. I can't see in all honesty why I need anything else right now.
