Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model

Confused, other than UI and physical size difference, if running to an outboard DAC then why would you not just be happy with the ZX1? (Especially with UAPP!) that, once again isn't a bash against the AK players, but a legitimate question.

Yeah I wonder if I was too hasty returning, I love bass too listening to subfocus, magnetic man and chase and status, but I also listen to classical, trance, heavy metal, so wanted a clearer top end. It may have been that my Hi-MD player and HTC One weren't powering the high impedance of them well enough. Let us know Wnuwk Siphon ;)

I've used this combo since the ZX1 came out. Prior to this I used the X3 and Sony Z1 (phone). 
 
For me, there's no doubt the ZX1 is tops. Compared to the other two, I find the ZX1 brings a slight shimmer to the highs and the bass is tighter.
 
Typically, I don't last long before eyeing another product, but this hasn't happened yet.

I don't think it can decode the DSD... how can it output thru USB?

I will try this over coaxial out from HM901 when I get the Hugo.............. presuming this approach will work over coaxial and will not freeze the player...

still a lot of trouble to play an album

Afternoon fellas. I'm just wondering which of my audiophile chums has had a chance to compare this lovely looking device with the AK120? ZX1 seems like cracking value, but other than storage I'm wondering if there would be any other negatives coming over from the AK device?

Quite a few on this thread have switched from 120 to the ZX1, others in other threads have remained with the 120. Some say the 120 is more "neutral" some say the ZX1 is more "musical" and has a wider soundstage, I for one love them both but like the ZX1 better due to UI and SQ tastes. But as we all say, YMMV

Japan's taxes should increase in April '14 from 5% to 8%. However I thought that's for locally used/consumed products/services. So called "duty free" shouldn't change?
