The UK price is right, in only a month or so after release you'd be able to buy it from the likes of Amazon for a £100 less like the H3's which I got for 170 and are still listed for 300

I have 500+ and I'm not complaining. I just pick and choose what I want to listen to.

LOL. I actually carry a 2TB HDD with all my hi-rez files. I bought a 500GB for my old iTunes MP3s and M4As which were also 250gb worth.

128GB space is fine by me. I also have 3TB hard drive with 2TB of music in high res filled. Not a big deal, once a month to transfer about 70 albums to ZX1. With a big music library like mine, it's no point to have 256GB memory space as long as I have my hard drive around.

About the Sony case: I actually kind of like it. It's slim and it's made from durable material. The only con is, it doesn't have the holes for side buttons. But it is manageable too. I can press it through the case and it's working fine. I just marked the pause button and volume buttons with a pen.

Got my ZX1 and PHA-2 today. Build quality looks great and they make a nice package: https://plus.google.com/photos/106302858491944000570/albums/5966239316742732081?sort=1. Next up: Loading some hi-res music files and actually trying this thing out

The European Sony pages list the ZX1 as coming without headphones here, too, so we might get lucky and not have a volume cap built into the player. Still, I guess the only reliable way to find out will be to compare a Japanese and a Euro version.

The could... very well adjust the output volume cap base on using a pair of HE6. Doubt it would actually matter any more that way, hey they didn't bundle any 16 Z/120db/mW headphones with it! :p

Once again Sony Australia as incompetent as ever. Sony thinks Australia is home of audio fidelity disables. Called Sony centre technical service and they are like " what is zx1? Di you mean alpha 7 our new camera?"

Anuk Chan gave me good info on where to get part to make a connector for the ZX1 but I need to find a source in the US. Does anyone know where to get the Sony specific connector for making a line out? I don't need wire or the 3.5 mini, just the connector and what is needed inside of it.

I knew a Roxanne once who was a bit of a ball-breaker, nut-cracker if you prefer... similarities huh.

hopefully the Irons will get relegated, that'll kill more than two birds much to the delight of the fans... I'm hoping for a tsunami on Wed.

Liked you initial findings on the ZX1, pretty similar thoughts meself though I'll post some of my own soon... keep up the good work old chap.

Sounds like Jerry's not alone then!

Not sure about a tsunami but hell might freeze over here in the next week or so.

Cheer me up, I'm in football mourning at the moment. It always happens to us Gooners when things are going well! Eduardo, Diaby, Ramsey.... now Walcott.

I cant afford JH13/16s which is what I would really like. In case of this Euro stupid ruling, what reasonably priced 'phones would definitely be loud enough?

Theo apparently done the injury when he lifted his hands up to make a numerical gesture.  Wait until Giroud & Ozil pick up injury's.

A decent triple driver universal iem will be a big step up from what you have been used to to start with which will still be enjoyable with a machine as capable than the ZX1 until such times you the funds to get something else.

So European ZX1 is the same one in Japan right? No additional storage options or something?

Unfortunately not, seems a couple of people mention it in passing as a wish on here and becomes like Chinese whispers.  Imagine reaction with the Japanese consumers if they found out the EU had a revised edition in the hardware with an sd card slot three months after it's native release.... (there would be samurai sword's drawn from their Shirasaya up and down the land of Japan)

Maybe the 2015 model (ZX2) with 256gb internal & SD slot, until then I will have to make do with a ZX1!
£549 UK ~~Available from beginning of March. Beginning sounds hopeful! Price about as expected?

What's happened to all the Sony shops, have they disappeared? I just looked on Sony site for local stores, all Currys and Stellisons etc! There was definitely one at Chelmsford last time I visited, and I thought Lakeside or Romford?

Yeah..... they or most of them closed down due to Sony's sales decline combined with on-line competition.  All the ones that used to be in Essex closed approx 12-18 months ago where all owned by the same owner as Sony Style shops is just a franchise like KFC is over here.  I think the Lakeside one is still open as it was under different ownership.    Chelmsford & Lakeside used to be my haunting ground for Sony gear.  Westfield Shepard Bush had a big Sony store also which may well still be there as I went approx two years ago now.  Thing is they was always full RRP which they never budged on and even their sale prices were higher than elsewhere!   Sad as it is a bit like seeing all those record shops disappear.

I agree... the ZX1 has made me discover a select few of my tracks that are not mastered as well as others, but at the same time I didnt realize how 3d other tracks could sound o_O

I have noticed poorly recorded material can sound flat, un-dynamic & harsh.  But when there is a studio that took the time & effort they sound fast, energetic, dynamic as with that wide soundstage as you aptly put it makes it all sound.... 3D.
Once again Sony Australia as incompetent as ever. Sony thinks Australia is home of audio fidelity disables. Called Sony centre technical service and they are like " what is zx1? Di you mean alpha 7 our new camera?"

How is the new Alpha 7 then?!

I once had that experience with phoning might of possibly been Sony (UK)  once,   I might as well been talking to them about a flying vacuum washer dryer.
