More like "bad steroids off" mode. Takes away all useless sound processing and makes things as they should be.

Hey guys - Thanks for the answers to my previous questions!

I decided to give Rockbox another try and im so glad i did - after poking around in the settings i was able to change the touchscreen mode to 3x3 grid and this makes it much easier to handle.  I then added the REDUX theme which i really think looks great and now feel im pretty confident finding my way around it.

The sound through Rockbox is just amazing, however im having a few issues that are quite annoying me - i've persevered as i really like the sound but thought i'd see if theres a way to iron out these little niggles..

Are there any preset EQ's for Rockbox?
The EQ settings are very complicated and i was wondering if anyone knew where to get some - does Rockbox not have any by default?

Is there a way to manually turn the screen off?
I have to wait for the screen to time out before putting it back into my pocket - this is pretty annoying as the screen off time doesn't seem to work in the settings, i've set it to 15 seconds yet it still seems to take a minute or so to turn off - any ideas?

None of the buttons on the device seem to work when the screen is off - is there a setting to enable them?
I liked to be able to just reach into my pocket and find the skip track buttons but they dont seem to work in the Rockbox ui with screen off.

Volume control seems out by a lot?
I was playing with the settings a little - at -64 is completely inaudible, which seems strange to me as it goes all the way to -99.  Surely -99 would be silence and then a gradual increase all the way to 0?  Maybe i've done something wrong?

I've also just noticed that Sound Unlocked 1.3.3 has been released - do i have to reflash the original recovery to update to this or will it work ok with the Custom Recovery and Rockbox installed as is?  I didn't want to just go ahead and try it in case it caused any issues.

Thanks again for the help with this amazing little player!

flac only/irr on/408kHz/DF slow roll off (whatever it is) + BH2.. love the sound of it but i think my dx50 is heating up..also noticed that gapless is still not working properly..will try to use 312kHz later..

Need more testing time with different music and all my cans but so far top settings list for Sound Unlocked 1.3.3:
1) FLAC-only + IRR OFF + DF slow roll-off + mid gain
2) FLAC-only + IRR ON + CPU 312kHz + DF slow roll-off + mid gain
3) FLAC-only + IRR OFF + CPU 312kHz + DF slow roll-off + mid gain

First two are sometimes on par depending on music and mastering but I prefer 1st variant little more because of more air, tinybit deeper/larger soundstage and dynamical sound.

problem with Sound Unlocked V1.30. Hi everyone, I have no idea how to reboot into the settings?? I have switched the lock to on and boot up the device, but it keeps showing me "Locked" screen after boot up complete and there is no such special settings as mentioned? I unlock the device, it will just turn back to the normal home menu. Am I missing something. I've tried to look for any info, there is nothing about anyone mentioning anything about what I'm experiencing. I have tried it over and over, but nothing happened, it will just keep getting back to the home menu. Kindly advice. Thank you in advanced!

I am having the exact same problem. I really want to try this sound unlocked, but can't figure this out.

To access Lossy / Lossless / FLAC only / IRR / CPU kHz menu You must set DX50 to LOCK and shut it down and boot back up with LOCK still ON.
When You have chosen Your options then just turn LOCK to OFF and it will resume into UI. Which mode to use is up to You to test and depends on Your setup, taste, music, cans etc.
but I recommend to start with IRR off + DF Slow roll-off + FLAC only mode and put Your DX50 to mid-gain (turn down vol first).

To get the latest CPU kHz settings You must download latest 1.3.3 version: https://github.com/dm1try/dx50_sound_unlocked

Note - with Sound Unlocked @ Lossless & FLAC mode You can`t use gapless play.

I have downloaded 1.3.3

When I boot the dx-50 back up do I press power and volume up or just power?

While player is turned on - turn LOCK ON, then press power button to shut down, then press power button again to turn player on but do not turn off lock, leave it ON, then it boots into custom settings menu, after you have chosen options you want, turn LOCK OFF and player will return into UI.

Anybody here using SU 1.3.3 with Dx50 with headphone out only. Want to know if it's good enough. I have the dunu1k and wondering what others think about the quality of the HO with SU 1.3.3?

Got a DX50 with 1.5, love it. One thing I would like to see eventually if possible at all is the ability to adjust the volume via the touch screen. The way I see it is you would touch where you want the volume to be and the unit will progressively get there. As it is, it takes a long while to move it up down this I feel would alleviate that and not have you hold those buttons for a while. Since I switch between mobility with headphones, line out on amp, and Coax it would be very useful when going to full for line out and then reselecting a correct volume for IEM.
