pouches aren't a good solution anyway. i'm hoping someone will offer a TPU or silicon case before long. i see on ebay there is one available for DX100, but not DX50.. and there must be a lot more DX50 owners by now.

Totally useless.  I actually put the DX50 in the bag that came with my TG334 hah and put the TG334 in the pouch that came with the DX50 for now.  Ultimately I'm a big believer in TPU/silicon cases for these type of devices so I'm waiting for the DX50 one to come out....if they're out on taobao they can't be far behind.

its on sale already....http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a210c.1.3.4.Vn5UZV&id=35488008716

After updating my firmware to v1.2.2, I have had no issues at all except for accidentally hitting DELETE twice when trying to add some tunes to a playlist

Hopefully in the future iBasso will add an "Are you sure?" confirmation page to the delete option for us klutzes.

I'd be surprised they will include a confirmation popup window, but again you never know, until then careful when you delete

Google Translated version is saying something about this is only for taobao customers, you have to include a screenshot of the dx50 purchase page, etc.  Any chinese readers here able to translate this accurately ?

yup u need to register an account..

why? all the usual reasons... keeps it from getting scratched, better grip, and some shock protection for drops.

not a necessity by any means but i prefer a lightweight slim case (like silicon) for portables

I'm halfway on this. On one hand you want protection for your precious gadget from scratches, dings and drops. On the other hand why hide the beauty of your gadget, they are designed to be as functional and look pleasing at the same time. I don't think any device maker designs a product with focus on which case would make it look good. To be honest, 90 percent of the time any device looks ugly to me with a case.

What I usually do is wrap my gadgets with transparent film like GMask or invisible shield. They offer outstanding protection against scratches but not much on drops. Especially high drops.

Since updating my firmware to v1.2.2, I have had no issues at all. ( Except twice I accidentally hit the DELETE option when trying to add a tune to my playlist)
Hopefully, iBasso will add an "Are you sure" confirmation page for folks with larger fingers!

+1

Also can they should make the back button in the upper left corner of the screen bigger or they implement some gestures. The back button is so tiny that many times in activates the wrong action instead of going back to the previous screen.

Anyone else trued the DX50 with the RE400s? Not a good sound, bass bleeds right into the mids and its all a mess

I don't necessarily agree. I just came into a pair of secondhand RE400s and I like the pairing. Its a touch neutral for me, but I don't feel like the bass bleeds anywhere. Have you messed with the EQ on the DX50?

Now that you mention it, I bought RE400's specifically to pair with my DX50.  I was so unimpressed with the RE400's, I actually thought mine were defective, especially given all the rave reviews they receive.  I never even considered that it might be some kind of synergy issue.  Perhaps I should give them a spin with the X3? ?

I picked up a pair of Audio Technica ATH-CLR100's on a whim, and they sound amazing.  Better than the RE400's in almost every way - at least with the DX50.  The real surprise is that they're only $12.95!  I have no idea why there isn't more chatter about the CLR100's!

Do the RE400's need a freakisly long breakin period?  I think I've got nearly 100 hours on them.  I seriously do not get it.

I use the RE-600 and they work great with the DX50, but they work well with most everything.

Am also very satisfied with the pairing. (However, am a newbie in "head'fi" things and iems in particular. I usually listen at home with b&w 804 nautilus speakers and a marantz sr7007 amplifier.) I actually bought the ibasso dx50 after realizing my cheap mp3 player sounded crap even with the re-400. It sounds infinitely better now. (I also did about 50 hours of burning-in of the re-400.)

(By the way, thanks for all the forum entries on headfi, I have been reading up here and on other websites for 2 weeks, hesitating whether to get the fiio x3 or the ibasso dx50.)

One question: The one thing I couldn't find despite crawling through the forums here (including the bugs page for the dx50), is a clear explanation of how to make the dx50 (fw 1.2.2 manually installed) play tracks in multi-disc albums in the proper order. Right now e.g. my Satie piano works (5 cds) are especially messed up... (Am using foobar to rip my cds to FLAC files and to do the tags...) Should I re-tag them on foobar as separate, single-cd albums?

Try separating them in folders, at least that's how i did it with my multi-disc albums. It is annoying though (i couldn't play Hesitation Marks for 3 weeks, until i spread them in folders and put them in a playlist...).

If they're like the RE-262/272, i might try to push 150 or 200 hours at least...

I also have a pair of CLR100's and they sound pretty good for the price, but it's an acquired taste, like the RE-400. I haven't tried the RE-400 with the DX50, but if they're anything like the 262, they need time. I am enjoying a lot my Uptowns + DX50, that combo sounds amazing for the price i got my Uptowns (like 30 bucks on a store's sale in my country).

Perhaps my RE400's do need more time to breakin.  Is there a significant change in their sound over time?

The CLR100's took approximately 8 hours to breakin.  They were awful out of the box, so I left them playing overnight and they just opened up and have been impressing me ever since.
