I don't hear any hissing sound with any of my iems even at loud volumes if I'm not playing any tracks. Only his I hear if the track itself has hiss in recording.

Good news for hiss haters!!

So how will this pair with Westone 4R's. Will I need an amp and if so which would be the right pairing? I just received my W4R's and looking forward to feeding them properly. I think I read the Pico Slim is a good pairing, I was also interested in the new Leck UHA760, as I have my old HD580 that I like to listen to when my wife is not home due to their openess.

Currently my DAP's are my 2nd gen 32gbTouch, 3rd gen 8gb Nano, RB Clip Zip w/class10 32gb, and finally my Note2 . I would like to carry One DAP, obviously my phone will always be with me, as a backup DAP. My amps are the FiiO 5,6 and iBasso D-Zero.

So far I am liking this Player, I just want to make sure whatever I get will bring out the best of the W4R's.

Thanks, Jeff.

RSA sound is warm sound zig , RSA + Shure SE 846 has not so good synergy .
With alo international plus Shure SE 846 are very good synergy
Vorzuge Duo power wise is Not so big to drive Shure se 846 to excellent SQ
Alo Rx 3 B has hiss with all shure iems
Maybe alo Rx 3 B+ is better , I am the demo unit next week

IMO

O thanks Rudi!! Besides International, what other amp would you recommend to pair with 846? Many thanks!!

I mean, I would be very interested to see a (double) blind test, where it would be proven that there is an audible difference.

This is what I love about Acoustic Sounds. They disclose what the source was, and who did the mastering, and you don't have loudness garbage. If I get a file in 24-bit from them, then I leave it as such if I can. Basically because you might not be able to hear the difference between 16-bit and 24-bit (and more importantly with higher sampling rates) if the files are created with proper equipment, as much as I love dBpoweramp for conversions, my computer is not professional equipment, and I have done ABX testing with MP3 files created from 24-bit on sources on my own computer, and I can (sometimes) tell the difference.

That's important, I think, to remember. All of the sciencey discussion, which is correct, assumes good equipment is being used with proper dithering and filters. My computer is not that level of equipment. So if I get a copy from somewhere I trust to master properly, and that is 24-bit, I am going to leave it in 24-bit if I can.

A great example of what mastering can do, I have heard several different versions of Ella and Louis, and the best version that I have heard is from Quality Record Pressings on 200-gram vinyl. That isn't because vinyl is inherently better, it's because QRP does a better job mastering.

Can any ipod 5th gen owner tell me how the dx50 compares to it in terms of SQ?
I have a 5th gen rockboxed one + Alo RX amp.......

Shall I upgrade.......?
Thanks

I have a 5 gen but it's an imod with special caps. I checked it up again yesterday and today, the iPod is definitively competing nicely with the DX50. If I was going for a major move, sound wise, I would not go because of the DX50 being superior than the imod, being rockboxed makes it a harder decision. I paid for it so to me might as well use it.

My dx50 is on route and should be here tomorrow guys,im just ordering up the cables i need.. I was to have my 2.5inch hard drive for use at home,im just wondering is the usb port on the dx50 the typical android port as you see on the nexus 4 etc? My 2.5 hard drive has a mini usb on it so i guess i would just need a low profile mini to micro usb cable?

cheers
