Im looking for a 2" or less cable to connect my dx50 to a C&C BH2 with 90* jacks. Preferably around or less than $30 (US if it matters)

Something like what was recommended here, but cheaper if I can still get decent quality

Anything cheaper with decent parts and you'll have to solder it yourself. Which happens to be a fun and cost effective way of getting exactly what you want

My opinion on this is a little different. Back in the thirties two Bell Labs engineers, Fletcher and Munson,  tested hearing frequency response as a function of loudness level changes. Our hearing response regarding frequency is not linear with respect to changes in volume.

I would have to say that a majority of the 'details' is seemingly from the higher frequency ranges.  Making them louder brings the details more to the front.  Clarity doesn't necessary come of this though, however in experience decreasing other frequencies that clash with the detail frequencies will clean it up.  
 
Thus that +1 boost in the 3 highest frequency bands, while keeping the rest of the bands as they were, creates, for me and my particular headphones, a boost in detail presence and clarity.  
 
My perception of clarity may not be what others that have spent over $500 on headphones may be referring to though.  The K10 headphones may change my perspective of everything I can hear happening right now.  Lol.

Hey, it's exactly what EQ is for - tuning the sound to fit perfectly with your combination of source material, headphones and preferences and wasn't trying to knock the use of it!

hope its worth it. going to pair it with my v3.

I use a lot of alac and have never had issues.

I think the difference will be pretty damn obvious once u get the DX50 going

only issues with alac that are still there, is that for 24/96 ALAC files the player says it's 32/96. that's about it

i got a pair of v3's do you think they are worth amping? they have 16 ohm impedance which is really low.
how long does shipping take , i live in the netherlands.

I don't think anyone says increasing volume increases details. But yeah it's true somewhat few details are hiding in high frequency ranges and just not audible or difficult to hear with a flat (EQ off) response from DX50. But this only works if there are details to uncover in a music. Several tracks do not get any benefit if their is nothing to uncover.

The latter statement is absolutely true: if nothing is there then no amount of enhancement will bring anything out.

The earlier statement is very much an it depends kind of thing. Increasing volume, either master or just specific frequency ranges, doesn't make things clearer or more detailed per se. What it can do is make those details more readily perceptible. This is especially true for the higher ranges as humans tend to lose high-frequency sensitivity as we age. Thus, increasing treble volume can make the treble range sound more clear and detailed.

DX50 vs. iPod Classic: DX50 sounds better, noticeably better, even with cheap headphones. Step up to something a little better and it sounds astonishingly good for something in the same price range as an iPod Classic.

Playlists: Currently no m3u/m3u8 style playlists. DX50 has a playlist feature (the little "[+]" icon on the home screen) but it's rudimentary, has no editing capability either on the unit itself or externally.

Amplifiers: There's a lot going around about pairing amplifiers with DX50 but, really, don't go there until you've actually tried out what you have without an amp. Experiment with the gain settings because the on-board amp is fairly powerful: 1.2V/1.7V/3.1V @ 32 ohms according to iBasso's spec sheet. If I'm doing the math correctly that's 22.5mW/45mW/150mW per channel. iPods are 30mW per channel, last I knew.

One can create as many playlists on the DX50 as you like and add both tunes and albums from the various tabs via a long press as well as the now-playing file. The playlists are numbered consecutively but it is not possible to rename them.
