Yup, I do final tunes on the Alphas.

We are still about 6 weeks for lead time but January is slow so we expect to shorten the lead time.  We'll also be starting the upgrades (hopefully the email goes out this week, but our landing page isn't done and we can't start until it's ready).

Search for AKG K701 case on eBay. It might be the right case. I've bought a few of them -- one for former K701s, another for AKG K240 Sextett, and another for my Smeggy Thunderpants.

Here's an example...

I have 6 of those cases...   the AD fit in there perfectly...  as does my T1 and HD800   I like them because they have a bag inside that you use for your head phone cables...  that way nothing get scratched up....

Ok, once I get my 6 inch 3.5mm cable wednesday, I am all setup for the AD's :). I do leatherwork as a hobby, so made this today.

If you ever stopped doing your day job (for whatever reason), you could always do custom leather work !  Very nice !

Jeremy,

If you do go down the road of making up some of these leather holders in the future to earn some extra cash, could you also make and design one that suits the size of the Astell & Kern 100 / 120 players please.

Unless this one shown would also be suitable for the job!

Lovely looking thing, could I be one of the first customers for an A&K / poweramp holder!!! ... :)

Fantastic, Jeremy could have another income and can use that to buy more efficient DACs/AMPs to pair with his Alpha Dog. Tomorrow or I think this week I will order an Alpha Dog and I have been waiting for couple of months now.

Just got my Alpha Dogs in last night

Pretty impressed so far, sound is a bit more neutral compared to the warmer presentation of both my other planars but it's a nice change of pace. Comfort is also much better on the AD’s thanks to the leather headband strap doing a much better job with weight distribution (one of the big gripes I have with the current planars). Also damn, that finish is just beautiful looking. Took a few pics last night but they don’t really do it justice so I’ll follow up with some decent photos. Now to get some more listening time.

Also I just wanted to say thanks to Mark from Electromod, and Paul from HiFilounge for helping me get a hold of these beauties. Cheers guys!

Thanks for the kind words. The difficulty with making something for the A&K, is 4 of the 6 sides need to be exposed in order to operate it, so this design would not work. I could make something that opens, but it would be radically different. Something more along the design language if this (obviously different, but just to give you an idea)

I would also need to have one in order to design something around it... You know... I have been looking for an excuse to get a 3D printer. This could be it!

Curious - how do you like the Alpha Dog bass compared to your HE-500?  What amp are you driving them with?

Bass seems tighter with a bit less impact on the AD's vs HE-500, between the two I would go for the AD's as having 'better' bass I suppose. Mainly using my Soloist to drive them but did have a quick go with my Vali as well (preferred the Soloist). Will be hooking them up to my Ember sometime this week and will probably try them out of my E12 at some point as well.

I've had one for about 3 weeks now - nice, nice amp!

Awesome!
I think I'm going to pair it off with a Schiit Bifrost probably. Which DAC are you using at the moment?

I'm using the Northern Fidelity NF DAC.  It is a wonderful sounding dac, not readily available in the US, I think.  Shoot me a PM if you have further questions on it.  It is a really wonderful pairing so far with the Soloist SL.
