X3 is pushing out 500mW @16 ohms,

I stand corrected then....I took that spec from the first post in the thread.  The X3 is quite the powerhouse!

Clieos, do you have a headstage arrow or a pico slim? If so, could you put it under the x3 so that we could see how thick they would be together?

Edit: an E17 instead of the x3 would work too, since they're about the same thickness.

I am oversea now. Will post more pictures once home.

I guess all I have to do is to wait for it to be released here then. I do like the way it looks compared to the first time the project was out. I don't need a RCA optical out and the adapter they use is a better idea than before imo of course.

I'm not sure if it has been covered or that I just missed it but can you play it while it is charging? This would be a good source for when I'm at work

I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but does the X3 support the building of custom playlists?

It has been mentioned in the navigation section of the review. It is called 'favorites'.

I'm a little late to the party to say excellent review ClieOS!...as usual

Sony can credit you with about 267,000 sales of MH1s based on your helpful review of that little gem. I've lost count but I think 6 to me, one for me and then for gifts

Just upgrade from the beta firmware to v0.97. Don't really sure what is the improvement as I have no had enough time with it yet.

Anyway, got a chance to do some quick demo of AK100 and DX100 yesterday. My impression so far is: DX100 is indeed a great sounding DAP. Though I haven't had HM901 with me, I can tell they are of the same level, more or less. Some said the stock amp card can be a bit underwhelming when compared to DX100, and I have to agree. With balanced card however, I think I would have prefer HM901 over DX100. AK100 is more of the same level as X3. If I were only to judge them by clarity, I'll prefer AK100. But it just lacks power. I max out on the volume (75/75) and I don't even think it is enough to be call deafening. At most, it is just louder than normal. X3 could easily match it for half the volume. The driver power also isn't great either, bass hit is noticeably soft. Also, I find the touch screen GUI to be clumsy. iriver could learn something from Apple here. I think I'll call AK100 slightly ahead of X3 on the cleanness alone (but not on functionality as a whole). It might be able to compete with DX100 or HM901 when used with a really good amp, but it is not on the same level if it is by its own.

Do you know of any way to get more RightMark measurements for the X3?

I would like the DX100 eventually, but it's 1) pretty bulky, 2) $850 USD...

I saw RightMark measurements between the AK100 and iPod Touch 5th gen and was a bit underwhelmed; not to mention the AK100's insane 22 Ω output impedance.

The AP measurement has been published on FiiO's website. It is far more accurate than any RMAA. You can ask James if he can give you a detail copy or not.

There's another typo on the FiiO X3 page: "ACC" instead of "AAC".

I have a UI question.  Does the X3's "Browse Files" menu work like the standard "Files" menu in Rockbox?

In other words, can I just browse through my folders like one could do in DOS or Linux?

I have not used RB in ages to remember how it works. But it works pretty much like any folder browser.
