HiFiMAN HM-901 visit pg 18. IMGS pg 19. NEW beta FW 1st page. . to the 901s. .new 901s FW .

"Thank you, Hifiman. What about a 12V car charger?"

I love the hifiman 901 sound, but everything else about the dap is so pre-historic compared to other portable devices, No 12V car charger, bad screen resolution, very poor interface, no digital out, plastic body, no wi fi, I can go on and on. Before any body says anything, to me the most important aspect for choosing this player was audio performance. This is the number one reason I have the 901 and not the ak120, or the dx100 or any other dap. But honestly, wouldn't you prefer to have a the same excellent sound quality in a better device?

There is digital-out (but no one builds the adapter yet). WiFi has been built in for future streaming feature, but disable for now.
 
To be frank, you should never expect anything 'sleek' from Hifiman. I am not saying they can't be sleek (HM700 is sleek in a way) - but if you know Fang, you will know he is very single-minded when it comes to SQ on his flagship models, and just about everything else can be compromised for a sound he wants. If you look around, no one else is nearly as insisting as he is. That's his biggest strength, and perhaps biggest weakness as well.

You are right. In the end I just close my eyes and listen to the beautiful sound that comes out of the hifiman 901. That makes me forget about all the dap compromises.

I have not seen HE-560 in person but from the photos, there seems to be some sleekness added into it when comparing with the rusty he-6 LoL

I chose to keep it inside my pocket and let entire album plays so I don't need to touch or see it :)

HM 901 is my choice No 1 due to the sound, too. But without charger there is no sound. 12V charger is a must for every digital device which cannot be charged over USB. Mr. Fang, my audio genius, do you hear me??? :frowning2:

Yup it got rather warm. Same for the ak240 (especially playing .dsf). Guess it's a necessary evil for top sound! Dx90 runs mostly cool but as good it is it's still behind the other two hotties...

Just loaded the latest software to my 901. I like it as the sound seems to be a little fuller or warmer. I don't like the digital filter. I hear very little difference now switching between HD and Vintage sound.

I'm still on 1.084... if 1.085 is more full/warm than it already is than I'd probably just stick to the 1.084.....
