Mine does the same thing.  Doesn't bother me really...I just say "continue without scanning" and then I can access the internal storage and the MicroSD card.  No biggie.  I don't really consider it to be an "issue" unless you couldn't see the device after ignoring the scanning message.

I agree - only problem is that I'm unable to use the X3 with my Windows 7 Home machine.  Makes it somewhat inconvenient.

I'm having issues with connecting X3 to my computers through USB.  On my Windows 7 64-bit home premium machine, it initially showed the device drivers installing (took quite a while) and indicated that they were successfully installed. However, the X3 doesn't show up as a device but appears to be charging off of the connection.  On my Windows 7 64-bit Professional machine I get the message "do you want to scan and fix X3?",  I select  "continue without scanning", the X3 shows up as a device and I can access it's storage.  I see an earlier post about someone having connection issues on a Mac but I haven't seen anyone report issues on Windows.  Any ideas?

Also the X3 seems to handle all of the 24/96 and 24/192 FLAC files I've thrown at it so far.  One track, "Let it Flow" from Grover Washington Jr's "Winelight" album (24/192 FLAC from HD Tracks", skips to the next track.  It plays fine on my other devices.
If it is charging, shows up, and you can access the storage to add and remove songs, then what seems to be the problem?

The problem is that on my Windows 7 Home machine it won't show up.  That's my primary machine at home.  The Windows 7 Pro machine where it will show up is my work laptop.  Not as convenient for me to use.  I'll use it but I'd love to have the X3 work with the Windows 7 Home machine though.

It seems the filesystem is corrupted on the internal memory or SD card.
I suggest to run "chkdsk X: /f" on both (X: being the driveletter) and always "eject" the device before unpluging the USB cable.

Actually, one of the times the prompt came up on the Windows 7 Pro machine I choose the "fix" option.  It now connects properly on that machine.  Chkdsk is also clean.  Still have the issue on Windows 7 Home.

It is probably not a general problem but an isolated problem on your machine. Try on any other laptop and it should work.

Funny how right after I posted this, over the weekend I received 2 emails back to back from TekFx and Micca store that they have it in stock and ready to be shipped. Now, I am tempted to cancel B&H order and order from Micca. I guess I will bite the bullet and order from Micca and just hope they are OK dealer.

B&H just said 3-5 days for their shipment to come in so I am going to keep my order in.

On Sunday, I "chatted" with B&H CSR and he said he has no clue when the shipment would be in, so I requested him to cancel my order. I placed an order from Micca immediately and received a tracking number last evening with a Scheduled Delivery for tomorrow. However, when I check the tracking number on UPS it still says "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status will be updated."  and the delivery date is still tomorrow, hoping for the best :)

If I don't get a ship date in the next few days I may do the same

This is what I did to get mine to connect....
I plugged the X3 into the USB port with the X3 turned OFF....
The X3 started to charge, then let it charge for a hour...
Then I unplugged the X3 from the computer....
Then I turned the X3 to ON...
Then I plugged the USB cable into the X3 and connected to the computer...
and the X3 screen shows the USB cable screen...
Then went to computer explore and there it was with all the files and the music folder...  works great...
