The WS99/WS77 PG 57..

I realize that there are many members here that have much more experience in headphones and can say "been there..done that.. herd that"..
Like when they hear someone say, "Ooo I'm hearing things I never herd before.."
or my favorite:
"Ooo I want to listen to my whole collection of music all over again. ."

I know this phenomenon.
This is what happens when a can happens to stand out at one or a few particular things, causing the sound to change and alter your perceptions.

That can be good, or that can be bad, spewing out garbage as well.
So we "hear things we haven't before", Ooo, yes. . Or .eeww.crap..

All cans try to render an accurate presentation, and yet all fall short and alter the sound.
So you now hear different aspects that you must now choose to belive as either true, exaggeration, or undiscovered as something never herd that before.

So far every headphone I have owned is guilty of this to a certain extent for better or worse.

So when YOU KNOW a song, and know what your SUPPOSED to hear,
Choose to believe yourself not the exaggeration or fabrication Or altering of perception.

A clap should sound like a real clap.
A click of the finger should sound like an actual real click .
A drum should sound like a real instrument.
And finally a voice should sound real...palpable.. alive.
You should here every syllable as if they were talking or singing in front of you. You should perceive their presence as a reality.

But why, you may ask, am I telling you this. When you herd it all before.
Because this is my own discovery going thru the "been there done that".
And it is these very same ws99 that are making these discoveries in realism for me.
Only my third day in, and I can say,
If only you knew what Ur missing.
:)

I consider the Sony 1r as my most comfortable can.
These ws99 cans have a slight firm clamp at first BUT the over ear comfort is 3rd with the Vmoda m100 coming in second.
And vmoda is only partially over my ear so naturally these ws99 will be better once I break them in.
Believe me when you actually hear how real the sound is the last thing you will take notice is comfort.

If you could only keep one of the three, which would you choose? Overall, not just in comfort

Haha it's an easy choice.
The ws99 by far my best can out of all my can history.
Not sure why they calling it a bass can,
As to me it just sounds strong and large with major realism, as the bass is not blooming or fat like an m100 Or any traditional bass can for that matter.
Edit: woops spoke too soon!
the bass was song dependant as I just got an ear full with another song lol.
Edit: my second choice is an surprising admission.
The Sony 1r as it is so smooth.
The es700 is slightly over aggressive in the mids & bass for me.
These ws99 are just doing everything right for me

Had mine burning in for about 4 days now, and I'm loving the mids and highs and lows on these cans. They're quickly becoming my favorite portables next to the Yamaha Pro 500's.

Just what I thought... :p
Compared to the Pro 500s, do you get any kind of discomfort from the headband (up top)? (I don't think earpads will be a problem...)

They're very light on the head, and the clamping force is not too tight, no discomfort at all for me although some complained about the narrow pads. They also have a narrow profile, so they look great while wearing them. They're not quite on the level of the Yamaha's sonically, but I find these to be much more portable.

Almost same level sonically as the Yamaha's, but for half the price (and me being in Canada, probably less than half the price). That's pretty good.

Other than the narrower profile, any other reasons for you finding them to be "much more portable"?
