Their noise cancelling headphones are still pretty good. Who cares about SQ in a noisey environment if you can't even hear your music?

True, but I only use headphones at home, so I kicked myself for not researching beforehand years ago...

At least they're still leagues better than my earphones!

Congrats on your thousandth post, by the way.

Never seen any Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, Schiit, or any other reputable high end (except Beats of course, because those are obviously high end) headphones. I've seen good home theater/surround equipment there, however.

Nice to see some fellow Virginians here!

I was at a Best Buy this past weekend and in their (very loud) home theater section, you could test/buy HD558s, Momentums, PSB M4U1, AKG 545, and others. It wasn't very useful because all the speakers in the home theater section seemed to be turned almost all the way up.

Go to their website and search for mid-fi and high-end headphones. You'll find a good number of them, though I'm not sure which locations stock the more expensive ones. (I would never call Beats high-end, even if price was the only factor. But in terms of price, I think of anything below $500 as mid-fi.)

hehe, I've lived on both sides of Virginia: in the mountains and near the ocean.

You know you're an audiophile when you drop into a Schiit thread, mention DSD, and a whole flame war unfolds, complete with mushroom clouds and thumbs upping basically any pro-PCM post.

YKYAAW you know yet another audiophile who pops into this thread, and she's one of the people you indirectly mentioned in a previous post.

(Then again, I didn't see you post here until I linked you.)

YKYAAW... You listen intently to subtleties and how music is mixed and recorded, and think to yourself, I would have recorded that differently. Especially true with early stereo recordings.

Yes! I've always done that.

Same!  I've lived near Charlottesville, and currently live in Va Beach.

Also, I was just kidding about the Beats part lol, can't stand Beats.
