Nah, mostly the clap and such. haha...gotcha. 

 Use just a tiny touch of gentle laundry soap and hot water. Drop the pads in the water and detergent and give them some excited squeezing...careful this is how I got the clap in the first place. 

 jk. Then use another bowl of hot water with no soap...same vigorous squeezing. Pat the pads as dry as you can get them on a kitchen towel and such and then let them air dry.
 
You'll have nearly new pads and they will smell nice from the detergent.

The stitching should hold up fine to washing.  I'd only be concerned with the pleather interior, mainly the memory foam, retaining water.  When I washed my velours, I could just squish them between a towel to get the excess water out, but with the pleathers I'd be afraid that the water would stay in there since it's far less porous.  If you are careful and just rinse the velour top without exposing the damping holes to the water, then everything should be OK...I've not tried this yet, so I may have to test it out.

I just checked my mail and they arrived early!  Silly question: do the foam inserts go underneath the mounting ring of the earpad?  Do you guys think they sound better with or without them?

They are supposed to be wedged into the underside of the earpads in between the earpad lining (where the holes are cut) and the dust screen fabric. And I'm not a fan. Others might dig it though, and that's why Modulor included them.

you lucky folks...I just checked USPS and mine are still in Chicago on the way to India... Ryan, given the rave reviews you are getting, I should have flown to the US just for this...and to pick up some Stax 

Ok, I finally got these installed.  Everything feels faster and airier to me.  I don't know if that's the right way to describe it, but that's my initial impression.  Bass definitely seems to extend further.

The real good pads from Fischer audio (FA-003) are of the MK II variety.  They have a stronger pleather on the inside that is more supportive and doesn't collapse as easily as the standard HM5 pad.  Plus, they're a bit more supple.  Then again, I'm not sure how much those two items would really contribute in a great way towards making the sound much better than the HM5 pad, other than possibly a minor improvement.  Also, the Fischer MKII pads are rarer and rarer to come by as each day goes by.
 
I tried to find the picture comparing the two side-by-side so one can see that there's a pretty big improvement with the MK II variety.  Marvin, on the forum here, was looking for the MK II nearly a year ago and didn't have much luck.  Given that there are some options with items such as the JergPads, it seems like a much better route to take as these are constructed with materials that are available today and one doesn't have to go through many iterations of turning over rocks trying to find a pair.

I'm looking forward to a pair of Round 2 Modulor/Jerg pads... but I sincerely doubt they will match my J-money pads for comfort

I suspect Chicago is an area where outbound packages for international destinations get cleared to proceed.  I recent sale to a member who lives in Brazil, took pretty much the same path.  I seem to recall that the package was in Chicago for 2 or 3 days before it moved to the next step.
 
Once it leaves the U.S. and gets to your country, it will then go through customs.  After customs has reviewed it, then it might be reviewed and processed to see if you owe any import tax on your purchase.  From there, it should be sent out for delivery.  A bit of a long process, but unfortunately, it's a bit painful for overseas buyers who end up waiting 2+ weeks to get their item.  In my case, I'm usually on pins and needles on the 3rd day awaiting a delivery.  Fortunately, even the slowest delivery method can make it across our country and to my place in about a week.  Most shipments are about 3 business days.
