SM64 To Replace SM3

-That makes a better control of spectrum equilibration (hight medium, et eventual sibilances with some device) increase "medium EarSonics sound signature" and better support on low frequencies using with lower power devices.."

If i understand the upgrade note posted by Tom correctly, the mids are supposedly tweaked higher? on v2.
Theres no way for me to verify if mine is v1 or v2 cuz the packaging doesnt state any specs.
But the highs on some tracks sounded sibilant to me on my copy.

i am a little confused, how are the mids on the SM64 V2? Do they lack the famous mid of earsonic?

The first version has a bit more recessed mids and has very slightly sibilant highs.
The new version fixes both of these "problems".
Hopefully...I'm still waiting to get mine back :'(

Hi Tom,

Apart from the squarish case that came with your IEMs, were there any paperwork included that indicate yours was the first version?
I find it confusing considering muzic4life's copy is also considered V1 but his case is more of a rounded design i.e egg carton look.

I'm still waiting for ES to verify my copy.

Where did you buy them from? If you bought them from Sound Earphones in USA, you have the revised version already.

I think when I ordered my SM64, they were not even thinking about making an updated version.

It seems to be most likely that you have the first version, if you bought them from Jaben.

Thanks Gasdoc.
Im gonna send mine back to ES for replacement to V2.
After listening for few hours of mostly edm (driven by my RSA Shadow), i felt it does not have the creamy mids provided by the SM3v1. Thus losing much of its body.
Dont mistaken though, the highs are marked improvement and lows are well extended, just without that added punch that i used to love from SM3.

Volume wise, I had to turn up a few steps on my Shadow to match the loudness of my SM3.

Hopefully, the V2 will sound much better and easier to drive.

i think u will be pleased with v2.  I didnt hear the v1,but as a lover of the sm3.2, these are better than or equal to in every dept.  these are absolutely perfect to me, except i cut the slider on the y split off for comfort.  im not big on edm, but listen to mainly rap and r n b, with few old rock (journey aerosmith) with couple harder songs for workin out (staind salive etc.  nothing these cant handle well.  And this is coming out of cowon j3 unamped.

I know I've already posted something to this effect in the SM3 thread but if you get the SM3 V2 you must get the C&C BH portable headphone amp from ebay.  It makes the SM3 V2 sound like a true audiophile IEM as it makes it sound more crisp and less dark along with giving them better detail which is crazy from an amp, the soundstage gets even more spacious.  For a $100 you get an amazing sounding amp that's built like tank as its all metal with no plastic, I can't stop listening to my SM3 through it.  It also makes my R-50 sound awesome as it makes it sound fuller and the bass sounds thick as well as a wider soundstage.
