Do you have any requirements as to sealed/open? And what's your budget?

You said in your profile your wish is the hd580's. With $150 you can definitely afford them.

The HD-580 is not gonna shine with rock, rap and hip-hop. Not to say it won't be listenable and enjoyable, but it's just a weakness with the 580/600 and does not bring out the best in those cans. Given that's what he mostly listens to, might as well get something that's specifically strong with beat and guitar-oriented music.

I disagree. I think they sound awesome with ALL music.

So do I, but (IMHO) they sound more awesome with certain types of music than with others. Rap calls for a great deal of bass slam and impact (something the 580/600 is weak at), and guitar rock calls for an upfront, forward presentation if you want the most emotional involvement.

These are just my opinions, of course...

thats cool bro... I wasnt attacking you at all. I have found the bass in the 600s a little weak, but long forgot about it now that I have the 650s. I just think for the money, the 580s "might" be a great can to grow into. However... based on his profile... I am changing my mind. Hes never gonna enjoy them with that weak ***** Sony cd player.
