The chip on the first one looks really bad. Really bad. I couldn't see the problem with the second - is the discoloration on the stripe the problem or is that a camera-light-effect thing?

Wood looks great, but it also looks to be a hassle. My 3.Ais do fine atm but sometimes I wonder...

That's not a camera effect. They used different pieces of bamboo wood instead of one matching piece. That is a joke and to do it twice! I actually almost gave up and was just gonna take the loss and sell them. But I figured hell no! I paid for these outright and deserved to have the builds that other customers get. So I stood my ground and in the end I got what I wanted. Just a lesson learned. But I'm really glad that I stood up for myself instead of just taking **** like I usually do :)

I don't think they are a hassle to maintain though. I just put them in a safe areas when I'm done with them. I won't throw them in my pocket with other gear and scratch them up lol. Actually I don't use these when I'm outside because its just too dangerous and would be irresponsible of me to do so. So they are relegated to home use. Still very much useful and I enjoy them :).

Well hopefully they sound decent at the very least (the end result does look stunning).
The whole situation sounds awful though, kudos to sticking it out.

I'm craving ramen right now. Also, I've realized I have way too many DAPs, expect my flash Ipod Mini up soon :p

Speaking of which, you would never think buying ~$40 of IEM would be such a decision. Need one to hold me over until mine are done, any suggestions?

Thank you. I'm just glad that it's finally over :). To be honest knowing what I know now I would have gladly given Spiral Ears my business if my business was not that important to them :p. At an extra $300.00 it would have been worth the premium for less stress lol. Well also Spiral Ears has been "the one" that I have really wanted from the start. But I figured it was a bit expensive and a hassle to purchase based on my location. But I do have friends who will help me out so when the time comes I look forward to hearing what those babies can do :).

With all my gears in storage, the temptation to go >portable >mobile >NOW, is haunting me.

@lee
I'm looking at the first pair of redone 8A's and I'm seeing a definite difference in tonality. Good thing you demanded pics and caught it before they sent them out to you or you would have been screwed. On the positive side, the second redone pair look absolutely gorgeous so at least you finally got what you originally paid for. To bad you had to pull dino teeth to get what was rightfully yours in the first place. It definitely should not have been so hard for you to get what was expected from Heir Audio. Live, learn and walk away a far smarter man my friend. When dealing with greedy fools it's best to make sure you have whats yours and just walk away.

The M2s have done me well for quite awhile, don't really use them too often anymore though ever since I got even cheaper MT300s to use as $5 beaters.

Do you mind square housings? The GR04 to be around that price, people never talk about this one - really nice balance. A bit more treble sparkle/edge than say the E30s but the cabling is far better. Actually I have no clue as to what sort of sound sig you want, or whether or not that's important or not.

Wait wait wait - how much did this back and forth cost in the end? Because if they didn't cover shipping at the very least...

Honestly, not too much. I am using the Monoprice buds right now, and while good, they are kinda meh. To be honest, I was thinking now would be as good of a time as ever to try out some "fancy" earbuds, namely the redone Yuin PK2.

Crap my CLAS just crapped out. That's the one bad thing about the CLAS, stupid battery life isn't the greatest, I'm lucky if I get 12 hours. The Studio V has me spoiled.

I totally agree. I was looking for a funny picture to go with what you said. This one looks real funny but the wording is all wrong lol . Replace the working with "Say it brotha!" :p

Oh they redid them?
Also comes to mind - whatever happened to those Sunrise earbuds that got a fair bit of attention? Curious to hear them. Only thing that REALLY meshed with me sound-sig wise was the MX880/980 and stuff like that.

Well shipping back to them was just under $20.00. Shipping back from them was another $55.00. Taking ethics into consideration I should not have paid a dime on shipping due to this being their fault and that is where I stand. Never even got an apology from them. At least in my experience they are very arrogant and not very friendly (cold). As DigitalFreak says it's a lesson leaned and I'll move on. Just putting it out there they are not the angles they try to paint themselves as. Not by a long shot.

If you weren't putting all of this behind, I swear I would've gotten angry for you. Some of these things just make me put my foot down and say lolno.
But it'd probably be best to move on. Perhaps the Adderal is getting me worked up?

lol . Well just sharing my experience with you guys is a way to put it in perspective in a constructive way and let it out. It's never good to keep things cuddled up inside. I tend to do that alot and I've had nuclear explosion-moments lol. It's just my way of getting it off my chest and moving on. But if it helps you all in your quest for IEMs then I'm glad. It's good to hear both sides of the coin, the good and the bad.
