It's not that I don't believe in cables making a difference, it's just that such claims might cause people to have too high of expectations, which could result in disappointment.
 
Back on topic, I'm really curious as to how the uber would compare to a crystal cable iem cable, but unfortunately not many, If any at all that I know of have crystal cable iem cable's.

never heard anyone being disappointed with the uber before...will give u my honest impressions...im pretty hard tuned to the silver/gold on the 1plus2..so I guess i can make some sort of comparison

Both spkrs01 and AnakChan have compared the Uber to the Crystal Cable, although in AnakChan's review it was interconnects, not IEM cables. Gavin will probably give you his opinions if you ask him via PM.

I can also recommend Toxic cables. I ordered something similar from Frank this week. It also doesn't hurt that his cables are a fair but cheaper than most of the competition

Ok, so I'm on the brink of grabbing myself a 1+2 but before I do I just want to dig up a debate from last year, as to whether it is a superior sounding IEM to the Heir 8a I'm currently rocking. There seemed to be contrasting opinions and as far as I can ascertain the biggest differences are that one is significantly warmer with a slightly rolled off treble although possibly more detail due to the number of high frequency drivers and the other has an impressive soundstage that can rival closed back phones and an incredibly well balanced sound.

I'm also conscious I will be losing the isolation of a good custom I have become used to.

Is there anyone here who has heard both and would consider one being significantly superior to the other?

Jim, I know you fall heavily on the 1+2 side, especially with the AK120.

I have both. I haven't spent quite as much time with the 1plus2 as I'd like to have. They, to me are a bit different. The warmth and bass of the 8.a is incredible. The 1plus2 is no match for it in that department. To my novice ears, they both sound crystal clear, the edge going to 1plus2.
They are both very nice, but my choice is the 8.a. I love them, for me, they are damn near perfect.

I listened to them both with the Magnus 1 cable and the upgraded silver/gold from tralucent. Also compared using my zx1 with pha2 and intruder.

Shameless plug for myself, I am selling my 1plus2 with the upgraded cable. Purchased it 2 weeks ago or so from board member Rudi. I was really curious as to all they hype, especially since I ordered the Ref1.

I wish I could share more but I'm just not that experienced yet... still learning more about my tastes.

In the totl iem world it all boils down to sound sig but at least you have tried it which cures ure curiosity lol

For me, the 1plus2 is damn perfect expecially pairing it with a tube amp..

Exactly bro!! The curiosity kills me for sure... But I figured buying expensive universals until I figure things out a bit, will save me some headaches in the long run. if I lose some money while learning, it's fine. I just don't want to lose several hundred on customs I can't sell unless I basically give them away.

Just asking, what dap/dac/amp are u pairing with the 1plus2?

Sony zx1, pha-2, and tried rsa intruder with it as well. Not that I don't like the sound, I very much do, I just prefer more bass. I'm actually listening to them now with the pha2, enjoying the amazing sound of Metallica.

I could have written the above sentences, I need more time - have had my 8A for about a week (2nd time! - and for the first time, a used custom fit without a reshell!) and the 1p2 for a little over a week - I know what I like and I aim to keep them both - they both do things very well, there is room in the IEM box for both.

I sold all my mid-fi to get where I am now - no more UE700/900, no Westone 3, no backup TF10, no IE8 or 80.... so I guess I can keep the stuff in my signature.. (Although I did order a HA-FX850 today - I wanted my 8 BA Driver headphones - my high end Hybrid and one TOTL Dynamic - the 850 may not cost $700, but I think I'm going to like it more than the IE8 or 80...)

No need for those phones anyway, right? I'd rather have 2 or 3 amazing ones than a collection I feel obligated to listen to. I just hope my choices aren't too redundant. I feel like the Ref1 will be the only truly different one I have.

I suppose it won't matter too much, my 8.a are universal and I could always dump them if I love the K10s a bit more. My asg-2 are my gym phones, incredible bass from them. I figure Ref1 will be my relaxing, laying down in bed phones.
